lalate
LALate Announces Best of Fall Awards LALate.com, the most successful company on nightlifestyle in LA, today announced its LALate Best of Fall Awards naming top LA nightclubs for this fall that included many surprises. With its Best of Awards annnounced every season and major holidays, LALate gives the lowdown on the top LA venues. "We don't just tell you what is the hottest venue; we tell you which venue is really giving clubgoers the best experiences night after night."Earlier this week, LALate published its 100th edition of its LALate Newsletter, the most talked about newsletter for LA nightlifestyle, the news of which was covered in over seven dozen media outlets. LALate can make a promoter's career overnight. "Our subscribers have been known to bring a moderately attended club to flowing over capacity in virtually no time," said LALate. Overall Market Review: the Fall of Lotus and Sheltera. A Now Off-White LotusThe biggest surprise announced from LALate this week was the following: "White Lotus is no longer good." At its high point, White Lotus was the undisputable #1 venue in LA and was getting hundreds of LALate clubgoers not one but three nights per week. However, that quickly changed. "We had Lotus since late Spring. What happened is that White Lotus this fall started bringing in an 'unpleasant' crowd. It's not the same place anymore, which is a shame. It's not worth it."b. Selective ShelterThe other big surprise announced from LALate this week is that the former #2 venue in LA, Shelter, has also fallen dramatically. "The venue has fallen faster than a parachuter."c. No Trading Space at CinespaceOn the flip of the coin, Cinespace, which was always popular but never the megahit like its downstairs neighbor Ivar, has shown incredible staying power based upon a novel concept: treating people well."People love this place. From day one, doormen let people in, people partied, had fun, and returned. We expect Cinespace to continue well through the winter."d. Private PartiesThe worse trend, LALate points to, is the emmergence of what it sees as inappropriate door operations by some venues and promoters, denying entry based upon gender. "You can't say 'guys not allowed'. Not only are a few parties saying exactly that, they are doing it bluntly; it's simply outrageous. Promoters/venues are in some cases treating venues like a private party for themselves and their buddies telling patrons to bring not one but two women with them. It's simple awful." e. Fall ForwardWe see the greatest trend in the next 3-6 months for nightlife to shift more away from Hollywood to outlining areas like Downtown. People tell us they most value in their clubgoing experience a) good music, decent priced and well pour drinks, c) good looking people. People are giving higher praises for downtown venues and the rise of what LALate has been carrying for sometime, warehouse parties, for giving a better overall clubgoing experience. This Fall LALate's Best of Fall Awards go the following venues in Los Angeles:1.
