russ reign
I'd have to say giving his or her absolute 100% best effort every time they perform... there are too many djs who just go through the motions.... these kids are paying their hard earned $$ to see their idols play, so why not give 100% effort? You can really feel it when a DJ is REALLY WORKING it.....Just listen to Danny T.......The man leaves everything in the booth Also unreleased goodies that no one else has are nice to hear ------------------This week's gigs:Thursday Oct 12th - Velvet Lounge (Long Island)Friday Oct 13th - Hofstra USA (Long Island) 10-2am & "Secret Room" @ Exit 3-6amSaturday Oct 14th - Mainfloor, Tunnel (Opening for Vicious)www.djrussreign.comwww.extremegroove.comrussreign@yahoo.com

bmlewis
It's the intangibles. The ability to create and modify a mood throughout an evening. That's what separates technicians like Plastikman, Jeff Mills, and others from Paul Van Dyk (great remixer but no concept of establishing mood). They seem to spin the perfect record at the perfect time. You can throw in all the tricks (three turntables, EFX machine, 909), but it comes down to that special genius that separates the greats in any pusrsuit. And yes, Danny T has it.If you look at all the great DJ's out there, they're pretty much all spinning the same records. Anyone can buy the best vinyl, but it takes a master to make the mood.[This message has been edited by bmlewis (edited 10-12-2000).]

keshiki
my opinion on what makes a good DJ is whether they can mix tracks flawlessly so that it just sounds like one big song....like, you cannot even tell where one ends and the next begins. I mean, they have to be good and different tracks but the seamlessness is what I think does it!
