i just started the gym again... it fucking sucks and im having a hard time doing it ... im just happy that im one of those that can go back to the gym after a whole year and have almost close to the strength i had when i left ... thats what is keepin me there.. last time i stopped i was benching for example 275 lbs 8 times ... now im only able to do it 2 or 3 times after a year of nearly not doin shit but pushups here and there and just bullshit exercises .. now heres my problem .. my right elbow is getting weak when im benchpressing ... a slight pain and sometimes locking up with the pain... anyone know what this could be ?? i tried starting the gym like 2 months ago .. but had to stop just after 2 days cause of this .. i thought maybe by resting the elbow for awhile it will go away ... now today i started again and it still fuckin with me  its really getting me down .. it doesnt hurt when i punch the bag or any of that shit ... just when i put weight on my elbow for some reason .. am i starting off with too much weight( im 190 lbs btw) , even if my muscles can maybe my elbow needs to get used 2 it ? or is my elbow just fucked up ? i went to a doctor (not a specialist) and he couldnt find anything and wants to reffer me 2 a specialist .. what do you guys think ? your input is appreciated.. thanks , koky

I am not sure what they are called. But there are these bands that tighted around the upper part of your forearms right below your elbow that tighten on the tendons and relieve the stress and pain from the elbows... I dont know if you have ever seen them or tried them.

That is the only input I can give.

..I usually get those type of symptoms in my Shoulder joint as im finishing my Chest-Tricep workout (last few sets).....it's kinda like a cracking noise and a slight pain .

My advice is prob use a lighter weight , and if the problem still persists with the lighter weight , then get it checked out .

i will definately try em out .. thanxs for the input ..

and mursa i know what you are talkin about ... i got that one time but after rest it went away ... this doesnt crack really ... its more of a sharp pain inside the tendons... sometimes ill lose all power in that arm when pushing it ..

imm just not go crazy too soon on the weight and try out those straps for awhile and see what happens ..

Koky, I get the same thing on my right elbow! Some people have told me it might be tendonitis and/or(?) "Tennis Elbow." Usually it bothers a lil' and I just work through it, but when I'm lifting heavier weights and it really starts to hurt I just stop. From time to time it just starts bothering me w/o even eorking out though =/ That blows. Do you ever wake up in the morning w/it locked up?

I had never thought of the elbow band thing...I think I'm gonna look into it though. Does anyone know if you can get that just at any sports store?

no sunny it doesnt lock up in the mornings at all ... its a sharp pain "ONLY" when i do heavy bench ... i feel it sometimes when im doing lighter weight a bit but dont really bother as much ... i bought the straps today and imma try em out and let you know how they work ... a few people at the gym have told me they have had the same and use the straps and that they work ... fuck i really hope so .. i hate being stuck like this ... it makes me lose intrest cause i cant proceed  and i know ... im terrified of it being tennis elbow as well... i heard thats almost impossible 2 get rid of :(

ill let u know later on 2 night how the straps werk sunny

Calcium?

Calcium deposit or lack of calcium? What do u mean? I hope it's noty lack bc I drink my milk every morning and I take calcium pills :(

It was just a thought, knowing calcium is good for the bones and from him not being in the gym for awhile nor drinking milk it could be. But I could also be wrong.

I also had that problem once, but it would hurt when I will do arm curls.I stopped doing that exercise for awhile, maybe like for 2 months.tried it again and no more pain.I think my brother should just start off slow till his muscles get back in rythem, just cant go back and think you can lift like you use to a year ago.I know it sucks to loose strength and it'll take sometime to get back like before but with time.

just my $.02 cents.

Ah hah...I see your reasoning. It kinda makes sense, but kinda doesn't :idea:

You 2 cents are hilarious! YOu made me get a mental image of those guys who go into the gym and try to be bad asses when they haven't been in the gym 4 a while and then u see them hobbling around for the next week b/c they over did it and are too sore and shit. :laugh2:

No offense, Koky, but ur your bro has a point...work your way up and build the muscle up around ur tendons so everything can support each other...don't try to be a bad ass...lol ;o)...your arm is probably in shock right now that it's actually working out ;)

No me, on the other hand, I have been working out 4 a while and my elbow has been hurting me for a while :( I guess it's from the sports I've played in the past combined with the weights, perhaps?? Anyways, I try to "listen" to it and do lighter weights on the days it hurts more, but I'm actually going today after work to Sport's Authority to see if I find the band. Better to try and help this thing out now before it gets even worse!
