  1. No need to comment back and forth with you much. Your the typical asshole that just feels that stiring up shit on a forum makes your dick hard. Read my entire post, not just the part that you feel needs to be picked. I am not justifying the move there, actually the need for another starter is enough justification. And the fact that Steinbrenner isn't going to allow Boston to get him. It will take alot more then Clemens filling a void to turn the season around. And it begins after the Starters, and it begins with Torre letting a good pitcher give up more than just a hit or a walk in the 5th or 6th before pulling them and going to the pen. Let the starters win or lose, dont let the starters give you a lead, and let the pen lose. The Yanks will come around just like Boston will make there typical mid/end of year slide. I am still not all that worried, and as much as I like seeing Clemens back in pinstripes, I know he is not the next coming. As far as it bringing more money, it's a given, whether it is ticket sales on non sold out games, memoribilia, etc... Another big name always brings a club more money, and the way the media is hyping Clemens return, just makes it that much more so. I would never make the Money issue with the Sox, not for seats anyway, Boston has about 15,000-18,000 less seats than New York and sells out about every single game. Yanks do not sell out every single game. Yes, they already make tons of money on ticket sales. But Steinbrenner is a Business man, a very successful one, and he knows how to make money, I don't think he would make the move unless he thought it would help him get back to the play offs, because once again, look how much money is made on play off games alone.
  2. 6 or 7 is better then the 4 or 5 the Yanks starters were giving in the beginning of the season. As for the Money, it was obviously something that had to be done, I am sure Boston and Houston threw in some big numbers, and I doubt Steinbrenner was going to let this fish go... Not with the way the season has started. If the Yanks rotation was Healthy, and not taxing the relievers daily, I don't think they would have put up such a big number for Clemens. And to top everything off, Clemens will pay for himself basically, it is just going to boost ticket sales on non sell out nights, and also boost Jersey, and other Yankee item sales. And, if he does happen to help get us to the play offs, well then those sales as well. Yeah it was a big price to pay, and time will tell if it was all worth it, but I still have confidence in Clemens, much more so than Johnson. I think Clemens at his age realizes the full seasons are done, and he is marketing himself the best way he can. Play hard to get, wait till a team is in need, and make more money then he would have if he left himself open. Alot of sports broadcasters, announcers, and writers make some good points. In the NL, you tend to pitch around the middle of the line up to get to the bottom of the line up. Which makes sense that pitching around certain batters to get to others will drive your pitch count up, so hopefully pitching to the batters in the American league would help keep the pitch count lower and he can last an inning or 2 more. And to go completely off subject... THE YANKS WERE ROBBED LAST NIGHT!!! And no, that is not a Yankee fan being bitter about a "Close call" the fucker was out by 2 feet, and it was clear as day on any of the replays, I dont know what the fucking Ump was looking at.
  3. I think I hear this every year, and the yanks still take the division... April is only so long.
  4. Hey, thats better than Mariano Rivera... He is killin me.
  5. I will say the same thing I say EVERY YEAR... It's only April. I cannot think of the last time the Yankees started a season on a high note. But in the end who is on top? Yeah, things look ugly, but Boston will slide, as well as the other teams. Every team has rough times throughout the season, Yankees always have the worst in the beginning.
  6. I woulda dropped him a long time ago... He shouldn't be a closer. I would say 90% of Arods homers were on a pitch down in the Zone... And what does he do, throws a meatball down in the Zone... I think Arods eyes popped out of his head. And what was the Manager thinking... Giambi is batting .243 or something. I would take my chances at Giambi long before I would with Arod right now. Even though Giambi's bat seems to be coming alive.
  7. 40 Mil too much... Yes we know, you love him, we hate him.
  8. Dejavu... 2nd Walk off... If he keeps his attitude where it is for the season, I would have no worries going into any play off game... He is keeping my Fantasy team alive lol... My team was having such a miserable 2 days.
  9. Everyone on the DL and the Yanks still pull off 3 in a row... And 4 of last 6. Your a Joke
  10. Excellent read... Thanks.
  11. I just wonder if Rev. AL "I need to die" Sharpton has ever listened to Hot 97 or 105 and listened to how many "Anti - White" comments or White Jokes are made on either of those shows. There are times that I listen, and yes I enjoy alot of the music, but I seriously wanna call and tell these assholes that a big part of their fan base is WHITE. And to add, how many ANTI BLACK shit is said on a predominantly BLACK station. But I guess one culture abusing their own culture is ok. I can see if IMUS came out right and made a racial slur like "Look at these nappy haired N*****S... But this was not as racial as the press is making it out to be. Hell, Howard Stern has Nappy nasty hair and he is more white than any white person I know. And as far as Ho's... Isn't the term Ho used in EVERY SINGLE Rap song, along with Bitches and Blunts??? I don't know... I am not saying I condone what the moron said, but seriously, it is not as serious as the "We have nothing else to talk about" press is making it out to be. Rev. Al "I need to die" Sharpton wanted publicity for his radio show, and what ever other reason, and he got it... Now hopefully he will hibernate until the next incident... If you ask me, Rev. AL is more racist than anyone... He says he is for "All People." I don't see him sticking up for the 3 white kids that were wrongfully accused of raping a black woman... PS - I love Reeni!!!
  12. I am still trying to figure out why Yankee fans don't BOOO Giambi, who aside from his HR yesterday has been a complete mess at the plate. I am happy to see ARODS start to this season, not that his past years have been bad, but I honestly think he is gonna have a career year this year, and I felt it before the season started. Hopefully it continues true. Unfortunately had to work yesterday, so had to listen to the game on and off on the radio. But I was sure to be near the radio at the end of the game. And then watched the video over and over... Nice to see that fucker have fun for once in pinstripes. I can't remember the last time I saw that fucker smile on the field. Pitching better come around... Not too worried yet as it is early... Good things to come... :-)
  13. I said it once, and I will say it again. I hate the DH position, and I would never vote a DH as MVP if I was in the position to. Being a position player leaves alot more room for injury, and considering you work for the entire game, by seasons end your body is alot more tired than that of a DH. Yeah Ortiz is valuable to his team, but would be less valuable if Ramirez or someone of Manny's abilities were not in the line up with him. You need the combo of the 2 of them for either of them to put up the numbers that they do. With an average batter before or after Ortiz, the numbers would be alot different. For all those Jeter Haters... I'm not gonna go there, I am not quite sure what else the man has to do to gain respect. There probably is nothing he can do because you will all continue to hate just to hate. Oh, and I'd put my money on Cano... 3000+ innings less experience, and still getting better. But then again, what the hell do I know.
  14. Cody, don't shoot me, but I go in for the midnights on the 6th. I screwed up... 5th would be much better :-( Or leave it on the first and I will try to have my co worker releive me earlier so I can get home early enough on the 1st.
  15. I dont get home from work on March 1st till about 7:15 - 7:30... 8pm March 1st would be better for me. Not sure about anyone else... I am off Wed 28th Feb, then I am off Mon and Tues the 5th and 6th of march. March 1, 2, 3, 4th I work until 6pm and get home around 7:15 - 7:30pm Then the 7, 8, 9, 10th are no good at all for me. I know my schedule is crazy...
  16. Count me in... But I cannot sign up from work... Codi, get me in there... PM me for details!!
  17. I think the 5 minutes of my life I wasted taking a shit was worth more than opening this thread. I think I am going to go take a shit again, maybe I will regain something.
  18. Always loved Torre, but I also believe the team needs a shake up. Torre is more of a "People Person" to his players, meanwhile the team needs someone who will battle with his players, shake things up, and turn things around, in the beginning he made alot more moves than he does now a days... Now he just seems to sit back and hope something big happens. Sorry Torre, this team does not have the heart of the team in 96 and 98. And Steinbrenner needs to learn that he does not need to spend 200 million to build a winning team... He needs players with youth, heart, and players who will go balls out 160+ games a year for all 9 innings. I am tired of all the old Allstars who at this point of their careers could care less... They have accomplished most of what they wanted, they are on the last 3 years of their careers... And no longer have to worry about that next big contract. Yanks need to find pitching that can go 7 or 8 innings instead of 5 or 6. Keep the bullpen healthy and not pitch them 70-80 games a year. They need to find their way back to SMALL BALL... Fundamental Baseball dammit... Get on, move over, score a fucking run... Enough of this longball shit.
  19. Some messed up news... I am wondering when these players are going to stop trying to become pilots and just take the normal mode of Commercial Airlines as their form of travel. Personal Jets, and 1 year of flying under your belt is alot more risk than a commercial jet liner. RIP Cory, I feel for his wife and little boy. Lola, I believe Cory was piloting the plane... Not another pilot.
  20. I think it is going to be an interesting series with alot of runs scored. Neither pitching staff is dominating right now. And both teams have alot of offense. But I think the Mets have the edge over St. Louis.
  21. You want a cookie? You and every other Boston fan makes the same prediction in the first half... That Boston is going to run away with the division. I would have thought you would all learn by now.
  22. How cute... But can you be more original? By the way. How loose were they.
  23. I can't see him retiring and giving up the the 6 or 7 million that is still owed to him for the next 2 years. He is better off getting fired if anything. I love Torre, he is a loyal guy. But when it comes to "Battle" we need someone with some attitude and aggression. Torre just seems to sit back sometimes and that is not the way to go about it. I would assume they wouldn't take Sheff's option at the end of this season. Which leaves a little more play for Melky which is a good thing. This team needs to keep building on its younger players. If AROD would learn to remove the demons that are within, he can do some amazing things. But he seriously has some mental issues that he needs to figure out. And it isn't going to get any easier for him in NY.
  24. Yeah, but not here, it will just give me enough reason to hit up a bar or 2 during the post season. Marquis is lucky if he sees an inning or 2. He has been so up and down, with the down being more often than the up. I am not sure how much of a chance St. Louis has against the Mets. Then again, I didn't think Detroit had much of a chance against the Yanks.
  25. If that was your argument, then Ortiz should not have been stated. Because aside from my personal hopes that Jeter gets it. If I thought anyone was going to get it over him, Ortiz is the last person I would think of this season. 54 Home runs and 137 RBIs with a sub par .287 BA shouldn't be the only thing that makes a player the MVP. How about winning games because of great defensive plays. Something that Ortiz cannot do. And by the way, Jeter does it more when it counts then when it doesn't. Using ONE game where he happens to miss is a lame argument. Considering I would not visit this board for anything other than Yankee talk. I will be off the site again until next season. Till then.
