Benny Benassi vs Gus Gus “No Matter What David Does†White GER 12 – bootleg that works in vocal elements of Benny Benassi into a mix of the instruementals from both tracks.

Billie Ray Martin “Your Loving Arms 2004†White USA 12 – dubby tribal reworking of this 90s classic by Derek Coan on the Pirate Brain series, elements of the vocal and chorus worked into the production.

Coldplay “Trouble In Paradise 2004†White USA 12 – Agent X mix in a melodic trance reworking of this older Coldplay release. Part of the B-Star bootleg series (#3).

Cutting Crew “I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight 2004†White USA 12 – Bootleg remix of this classic 80s track, with a bootleg reworking of Peter Shelly “Homosapien†on the flip. Part of the B-Star bootleg Series (#4).

The Cure “Love Song 2004†White USA 12 – Third of the B-Star bootlegs for this week, (#5) this is a progressive house reworking that filters the vocals in and out of the production. On The flip is a progressive reworking of Leftfield’s classic “Phat Planetâ€

Daft Punk vs Harry Romero "Keep Your Head Alive" White ENG 12 - mashup of "Alive" with Keep Your Head Up" that blends elements from both tracks together into one production.

D-Rail “Bring It Down 2004†White ENG 12 – latest of the Hoxton Whores bootlegs, circulates as HW014, another pumpy production with elements of the original vocal worked in.

Duran Duran “Save A Prayer 2004†White BNX 12 – circulates as Pirates For Life 1, summery disco-tinged house reworking with the full chorus worked into the production. On the flip is a pumpy house reworking of Madonna’s “Into The Groove†that warps and loops the chorus.

Missy Elliot “Pass The Dutch 2004†White BNX 12 – DJ Pierre Remix in a chunky funky house style with the full vocal in the mix. On the flip is a similar-styled remix of “I’m Really Hottâ€. Circulates as PVME1.

Gloria Estefan “Hoy 2004†White ITA 12 – DJ Knight mix in a seductive garage house style + on B-side is a mashup of C&C Music Factory “Pride (A Deeper Love)†with Eddie Amador’s “House Musicâ€

Madonna “Music 2004†White GER 12 – circulates as Madd “Music Nonstop†chunky, slightly electro-influeced reworking with much of the original vocal and full chorus worked into the production.

Gwen McCrae "All This Love 2004" - Glitterball bootleg series with 3 different mixes of this classic track, some with full vocal and others dubbed out.

Sade "Earthsong 2004" White ENG 12 – tribal-tinged version by Wonderland that works Sade’s vocal into the dubby instrumental production.

SFB vs Slide “Kill Bill†White ENG 12 – short vocal samples from Uma Thurman this time in a floaty progressive take on the theme from “Kill Bill†by the SFB production team in collaboration with Slide.

Justin Timberlake “Like I Love You 2004†White ENG 12 – remixes by Danny Howell, one in a 4/4 progressive house style the other a progressive breakbeat mix. Hooks and samples of the vocal and chorus worked into the production.

Lou Rawls “See You When I Get There 2004†White ENG 12 – circulates as Double Kiss, festive summertime house with a looped sample of the title worked into the production. Effective disco-tinged production.

House

ABR (Al B Rich) “Get U High†White USA 12 – Dark, driving tribal production from Al B Rich with aggressive drum lines and a solid male spoken vocal hook about the joys of Mary Jane. On the B-side is JF (John Farrugio) “Slave To The Deep Boricua†which uses the vocal sample that was the basis of Victor Calderone’s “Deep Dark Jungleâ€.

Ananda Project “Kiss Kiss Kiss†Nite Grooves USA 12 – Seductve garage house production with smooth female vocals over solid remixes from Eric Kupper and Sir Piers for the smaller intimate rooms.

Dave Armstrong “Make Your Move†Tommy Boy USA 12 and C5 – finally a US pressing of the Pointer Sisters-sampling house anthem that has been one of the big hits of 2004 (so big that other DJs are copying the formula themselves). US edition includes the original and remixes by Olav Basoski, Antoine Clamaran and Manuel Tur. Also on CD-Maxi now for the first time.

Brandy “Talk About Our Love†Atlantic USA 2x12 and C5 – excellent new single from this popular R&B vocalist with a plethora of remixes for a variety of floors. Remixes range from bigroom productions by Bill Hamel and That Kid Chris, a trance and house mix from Ford and chunkier mixes from E-Smoove (with a Thick Dick dub to boot).

Celeda “The Underground 2005†69 USA 12 – new remix and dub by Xpander that deepens the vocal to where it sounds more like a male vocal over a chunky, slightly techy bigroom production. Dub version adds a bit more conga to the production while mellowing the synthline a touch.

Cerrone f/Joceyln Brown “You Are The One†Purple ITA 12 and Malligator FRA 12 - veteran house producer teaming up with one of the grand divas for this inspirational production. On the French edition is the original vocal mix and a Club mix by Luca Cassani, both of which give pride of place to La Brown’s vocals. The Italian edition features remixes from Jamie Lewis.

Commander Tom “Attention†Pulsive GER 12 – Steve Murano on the mix for this funky tech house monster that utilizes a famous female vocal hook over Murano’s trademark squelchy synth hooks and energetic rhythms. On the flip Commander Tom gives a more traditional German electrohouse production.

DJ Exacta f/Sandy B “The Beat Is Inside You†Subliminal USA 12 – this week’s treat from Subliminal features Ms Sandy B’s hands-in-the-air vocal over a chunky bigroom house production that would sound perfectly at home on a 69 or Tommy Boy release. Includes both a full vocal mix and a techier dub version.

DJ Pierre “Put Ya Hands Up†DJ Pierre ENG 12 – DJ Pierre with a solid production featuring a hands-in-the-air female vocal, energetic rhythm lines and driving rhythms that pay more than a passing glance to Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.â€

DJ Rhythm f/Blu “I’m In Love 2004†Aura USA 12 – Seductive vocal house production with a hooky uplifting female vocal over a funky midtempo house orchestration. Remix from Groove Allstars gives a deeper, chunkier interpretation to the production.

Dr Kucho “Lies To Yourself†Work BNX 12 – Seductive summery house production from one of Spain’s best producers. Very Ibiza-oriented with a smooth, seductive male vocal supported by warm, slightly discofied house synth orchestrations. Mischa Daniels mix on the flip is a bit chunkier and funkier in feel but still works nicely with the vocals.

Earth Wind & Fire “Never 2004†Vendetta SPA 12 – Jay Sealee reinterpreting a classic mid-70s release by Earth Wind & Fire giving the track the smooth garage vocal house reinterpretation that works very well with the original vocals. Includes both full vocal and dub versions.

Hatjak “Searchin’†Blow USA 12 – Chunky disco-tinged tech house production from Hatiras and Jaxon with a funky, computer-enhanced male vocal supported by a summery synth orchestration and solid rhythm lines. Hatiras remix dubs out the vocal a bit and gives a more ethereal feel to the synthlines for a lighter production.

The Heartists “Belo Horizonte 2004†Atlantic Jaxx ENG 12 – David Morales reworing the classic Carnival party house track from the late 90s for the new millennium. Lots of trumpets and congas worked into this new remix. On the flip is a reworking of the track “Birinbau†by Braziu Xplosion that is a festive Portuguese-language house production.

High Spies f/Latrice Barnett “Skyz The Limit†Look & Feel USA 12 – Excellent garage house production with a stunning female vocal supported by warm, seductive house orchestrations and solid rhythm line. DeMarkus Lewis provides a deeper, more late-night lounge reworking that allows the vocal to be the star of the show.

JCA f/Dannii Minogue “Come & Get It†WEA GER 12 Part 2 – Second set of mixes on this new single featuring the vocal talents of Kylie’s younger sibling. This edition features the Full Vocal Mix with Dannii’s breezy vocal balanced by JCA’s summery disco-tinged production. Also includes a dubby tribal reworking by Future Funk on the flip.

The Kings Of Tribal “The Piano, The Sax, The Beats†24-7 FRA 12 – Robbie Rivera on the production here for this release which features three different cuts each highlighting a different element – the first a pumping piano-driven production, the second with a hooky saxophone sample and the final track is a driving tribal production.

Loco Motion ‘Modo Loco†Nolabel ITA 12 – Pumpy Spanish-language bigroom house production with a driving rhythm line, hooky chants and flowing trumpet flourishes. Pedro Corados remix on the flip is more on the tribal side of production.

Miller & Connor “Come Together†Milk & Sugar GER 12 – Solid new discofied summertime house production from the Milk & Sugar label with an energetic, inspirational vocal worked into the uplifting production. Of special note on this release is the remix by Steve Lawler who trades in his usual dark tribal sound for a lighter touch that works some funky vocal samples into the production.

DJ Armand Pena “Watching Me†Rhythm Freak USA 12 – Dark, driving bigroom tribal production with seductive female vocal hooks worked into the chunky rhythm lines and spacious synth lines, perfect for the packed rooms that like their tribal deep and hypnotic. Two mixes.

Mark Picchiotti “p/Jersey Street “Love Will Be Our Guide†In The House ENG 12 Part 1 and Part 2 – Third release from Defected’s “In The House†subsidiary and one of the standout cuts from the spring sampler packs back at Winter Music Conference, this release features seductive female vocals over classic garage-influeced house orchestrations. Disc 1 features the original version and a solid reworking from Hott 22 that adds a bit more of a bigroom spark to the production while disc two feautes full vocal and dub reworkings from Liquid People in a seductive garage style.

Prydz vs Adeva “In And Out†Joia GER 12 – the famous vocal of Onephatdeeva’s 1998 classic “In & Out Of My Life†are the basis for this solid tech-driven house production from Eric Prydz, who nestles Adeva’s vocals into a chunky, slightly acidic production. Guaranteed to get a floor jumping with its raw energy. On the flip Hugg & Pepp rework the vocal into a funky disco-tinged house production perfect for the summer season.

Red Carpet “Alright†Tinted AUS 12 – Breezy summer house production with an uplifting female vocal over a bouncy disco-influenced piano and house synth orchestration. Remix by Dan Hetrix smooths out the piano line to put more focus onto the vocals.

Shapeshifter “Lola’s Theme†Positiva ENG 12 – One of the season’s first true house anthems now gets a full commercial release from Positiva UK and this new vinyl edition features a Full Vocal mix that adds a new female vocal to the production to give it a more commercial appeal as well as a remix by Eric Prydz in his trademark chunky tech-house style.

Despina Vandi “Opa Opa†Ministry GER 12 – Follow-up to the massive “Gia†is a lighter, more summery production with Despina’s bouncy English-language vocal given the disco-tinged makeover by Milk & Sugar. Also included are tougher, techier vocal and dub mixes from Armand van Helden.

Various “Alegria EP†Tommy Boy USA 2xLP – vinyl only unmixed edition of 4 tracks from Abel’s mix compilation “Live At Alegria†featuring the following tracklisting : 1) Abel “La Puta 2004†2) Origene “Sanctuary†(Moran & Rigg Mix) 3) Ofra Haza “Love Song†(DJ Paulo mix) 4) Zhana Saunders “Waiting For Alegria†(Moran & Rigg Mix). Vinyl only.

Yer Man “Good Grief (Fuck You)†UMM ENG 12 – More potty-mouthed bigroom tech house with the hook being provided by a answering machine message of lady ending a relationship due to her partner’s lack of emotional concern. Driving rhythms and aggressive synth orchestrations match the emotions of the vocal sample perfectly. Also includes a PG-version lacking the more colorful vocal elements.

Trance & Progressive

Marcelo Castelli “Montevideo†Release Grooves ENG 12 – One of Portugal’s top progressive producers back with a massive bigroom production of driving rhythm lines, dark, brooding progressive synth orchestrations and a seductive Latin feel (as suggested by the title.) remix by Rob Curtis on the flip.

Dark Moon “Hear You Calling†Torpedo GER 12 – Gorgeous German vocal trance production with emotive female vocals supported by beautiful melodic arpeggiations, dramatic breakdowns and solid but not overpowering rhythm lines. Perfect for the fans of angelic vocal trance.

DJ Ton TB “Dream Machine†Black Hole BNX 12 Part 1 and Part 2 – Black Hole returns with this driving, techy trance production with chunky, almost tribal rhythm lines and darker aggressive synths. Disc one features the original instrumental version and a vocal version that add a rockish male vocal to the line. Part 2 features a slightly more melodic reworking by Estaura and a no-holds barred reworking by Marco V for the more aggressive floors.

8 Wonders “The Morning After†Somatic Sense BNX 12 – Stunning Dutch instrumental trancer with waves of melodic synth, solid rhythm lines and dramatic breakdowns. Remix comes from the Thrillseekers in their trademark anthemic style.

Alex Gold “Electric Places†Xtravaganza ENG 12 – Underworld’s “Dark & Long†is the inspiration for this dark, energetic bigrooom trance production with punchy synth stabs, driving rhythms and hooky vocalizations worked into the production. Two mixes.

Qattara “Stereo Drive†Steelfish ENG 12 – Energetic progressive house production with chunky rhythm lines, spacious synth swells and hooky, slightly acidic synth lines blended to perfection. Two mixes, with the “Devil†mix being a bit darker and deeper than the “Angel†mix.

Ed Real & The Coalition “20000 Hardcore Members†Tidy Two ENG 12 – samples from film “The Warriors†and worked into this driving hardtrance production from Tidy Two. Aggressive rhythm lines, high-flying melodic synth waves and massive cascading breakdowns blend with the vocal hooks from the film perfectly to get the floor jumping.

Thought Disorder “Omimusha†Fifty Point Four ENG 12 – Spacious progressive production with haunting female vocal hooks that give the track an ethereal, slightly eastern feel. Aquaculture mix uses a more complete female vocal and a sparser, darker synth orchestration.

Ian van Dahl “Believe†NuLife ENG 12 – UK-only single for this veteran Belgian poptrance act with another uplifting female vocal by Annemie supported by solid remixes ranging from Kontakt’s bouncy anthemic production to a driving bigroom hard dance reworking from Ian Knowles that works the vocal in the breakdown.

Various “Yoshi-Pack 1†Yoshitoshi USA 3x12 – Limited edition triple pack from Yoshitoshi featuring 2004 mixes of 6400 Crew’s “Dubb Me Something Freshâ€, Shmuel Flash unreleased track “On A MIssion,†and three mixes of Sophie Eluard’s “Paul Elouard.†Mixes range from deep and spacious to dark, driving tribal-influenced productions.
