anotherway83 Posted October 7 Report Share Posted October 7 i think its true that the majority of men like white chicks, but most men would also not have a problem dating a woman of color...have you forgotten latinas i think its all because of the white beauty ideal that is and has been so heavily promoted by western media for like, ever, which also has a very strong influence on youth all over the world (think "cultural hegemony").when i was back in my country of origin i was about 8 or 9 when western channels started coming in on cable, and because 95% or so of all actors on TV were white, alot of ppl. actually believed that the US was indeed like that...just white ppl. and almost no one of color...when in fact the true diversity of the country had hardly been represented on TV, thus misleading alot of ppl. in other countries who had never been to the US. so when i finally moved to LA i was pleasantly surprised to find so much more diversity than i could've ever imagined based on watching TV Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

anotherway83 Posted October 7 Report Share Posted October 7 i never said that the majority of ppl. are not attracted to white chicks, just that white chicks aren't the *only* types that they find attractive. and yes the darker skinned latin women would be considered women of color, while their light or even white skinned counterparts (for instance the blonde white chix of colombia) would be considered white. A lot of white men have fetishes for asian women and exclusively date them. A lot of white men also have a thing for black women. Look at Robert De Niro. I think when you live in a country where the majority is white, it stands to reason that the majority will prefer whites, since most people deep down are probably most attracted to their own (not racist, just probably human nature). But, then when I moved to Chicago I learned that I liked a little flava in my life. People are only racist because they are brought up that way. I dated a black guy for 2 years and he was great (we broke up because he went off to law school and the long distance thing wouldn't have worked out). At first my FATHER was shocked and mad when I brought him home, because once again he had never been around anybody. But then he found out that unlike the losers I had been banging, I was serious about this guy and he was a great guy - going to college, polite. I also notice that I see a lot of asian girl/white guy couples, but hardly any asian guy/white girl couples.
