A million thanks to everyone who came out for last night's "Beyond The Stars" weekly party... though it took awhile for people to start trickling in, once folks began coming in the place became very comfortably filled by 1:30-2am, with half the people scattered around the inside, and the other half wandering around out back or chilling out in front of the venue. Overall, I'd say the night turned out far better than expected, considering that we only had one full day of promotions, and no paper flyers whatsoever (those WILL be coming for future events though - don't worry!) As usual, all of the die-hard Euphoria Project supporters came out in strength, with a couple dozen new heads testing the waters as well.

The vibe tonight was fantastic from beginning to end, with a good number of people dancing, TONS of glowstringers and photon dancers making their appearance, and even a solid b-boy contingent doing some windmills on the dance floor early on in the evening. I'm certainly very pleased with the direction things are going in, word seems to be getting out about these parties and with everyone's continued support, this will become a truly fantastic venue for everyone.

The owners are already talking about getting a beer and wine license so they can offer partial bar service in addition to their current roster of juices, sodas and energy drinks. Next time around there'll be visuals added to the back courtyard to make everyone happy, and we'll continue adding on more lights and improving the sound system as our support level improves and continues to expand. If anyone has any suggestions to improve things further, please drop me a line at Mitch@EuphoriaProject.org or call my cell at 954.675.0020.

As far as tonight's performances were concerned, all of the DJs threw down excellent sets, almost as if each performer were consciously trying to out-do the previous one. 2sweet opened up (she also opened up the downstairs main room at our Sanctuary party at X-it), though she'll definitely be receiving better timeslots at future events. She's a very capable funky breaks & electro DJ who definitely has the touch to make a crowd move. Look for more of 2sweet, she will without a doubt be getting a LOT more play here in the South Florida scene. Next up was Empire, always a solid dj who was unfortunately slightly off his game tonight, a little jagged on some of his mixes, but otherwise he played a very capable and upbeat set of progressive breaks, trance and house. After Empire came DiscJockeyJoey, with a piledriver of a hard techno set, slamming down his mix with passion and intensity. Many thanks also to Joey for his sound system, and also for the Pioneer effects box he brought in, which made the evening's mixes quite a bit more intriguing.

Next came Obsession (the man with the decks and mixer), and as always, Wayne threw down his signature set of house and trance, getting the crowd all happy and even more upbeat, setting a great tempo for everyone to dance and nod their heads to the rhythm. After him was Octavius, with his bangin' hardstyle/hard house set bringing the glowstringers out in force to dance at a fever pitch, while the regular dancers bounced around the room with a frenzied intensity. Octavius really threw down a wickedly hard mix and everyone seemed to love it. Hard dance is definitely something we'll be seeing more of here at our events, as "eclectic" is our theme and there really aren't many other supporters of hard dance in this area. Rounding out the night was Jon Valin, making a special trip down from Orlando to close the night out, with a deliciously bouncy set of funky breaks and electro. He seemed to have an uncanny sense of what the crowd wanted to hear, starting off with a sweet progressive sound that meshed perfectly with the end of Octavius' set, slowly bringing the vibe down a couple notches, only to come surging right back, filling everyone in the room with energy.

Overall, I'd say Jon Valin definitely spun the best set of the night, it's only a shame he had the closing slot, as the 2nd half of his set was played to only about 10 people. The energy level and vibe of his track selection was phenomenal though, and I can promise him a nice quality headlining slot next time he chooses to come down. All in all, every one of the DJs tonight turned in a very solid, respectable performance, setting the tone wonderfully for the future of this new weekly event.

>>>> IF YOU'D LIKE TO SEE SOME PICTURES FROM LAST NIGHT'S SHOW, HEAD OVER TO http://www.EuphoriaProject.org/beyond/index.html <<<<

Please be sure and come out this Friday night, October 15th, for our biggest and best weekly yet: We're featuring two out-of-state DJs back to back, each one with a special extended 90 minute set, so everyone will be able to fully appreciate their style. In order to fully support these two DJs, we're increasing the cover slightly from $5 to $7 for this one night only, so please c'mon out to Games Depot and show your support. The vibe here is truly unique, combining the laid back and friendly feel of a good house party with the wide open dancefloor and tripped-out lighting effects of an oldschool warehouse rave. It then stirs things up a bit with the fantastic cybercafe elements, providing cheap snacks & drinks for everyone, and a long row of high speed internet-capable networked computers to cap the whole package off with the perfect techno-geek element that we at the Euphoria Project absolutely adore.

It's a great place, with an even greater future. This is just the beginning, come out this Friday night and watch us grow.

Yours with love,

Mitch =O )

ladies and gentleman we have a self reviewer in the house. philippio please review with him the rule about this.

As long as I'm not posting outside of the original event thread, there should be no problem whatsoever with providing people a recap of the evening's event...

Besides, it's OBVIOUSLY not a review per se, since I'm the event's promoter. I've been posting up these recaps of my events for over three years now, ever since the Euphoria Project started - so no one should have a problem with my providing them as a service for anyone interested in the DJs that I book. (And considering that virtually ALL of the DJ's the Euphoria Project has booked in the past have gone on to much broader careers, playing all over the South Florida scene, obviously SOMEONE out there has been reading 'em.)

Have a good one,

Mitch =O )

what dj has euphoria started and is now big time?

If you'll notice, I didn't say anything about "big time", I said that they were getting lots of play all over the South Florida scene... (and we didn't "start them", that's their job... we just helped out and gave 'em support when it was needed... plus a lotta bookings.)

And it's DJ's, plural:

Dagger,

Shockwave,

Big Boy,

Deranged,

Obsession,

Mike Freeze.

They all get TONS of play at events all throughout the area... if you'd like a list of their accomplishments I'll be more than happy to work it up for you.

Up and comers that we're currently promoting, that you'll be seeing a *LOT* more of in the future:

Shadow Spirit,

Randomblare,

The Raven,

2sweet,

Empire.

...with MANY more to come. I can definitely see Jon Valin from Orlando joining our roster in the future, and I can see him going VERY far in our scene, he's got excellent talent and is a real crowd-pleaser with great charisma. As we continue to book tons and tons of raw talent, we'll continue booking those who we feel warrant the most help, and support them with all of our resources.

From the very start of the Euphoria Project, we've consistently lended great promotional assistance to the newer up & coming DJs in the scene, and have done our best to assure that those with talent get more than their fair share of bookings and exposure at local events. Those who are highly motivated go even further - such as Dagger and Big Boy, who are virtually ubiquitous in South Florida's scene, playing out at virtually every significant event to come down the pike. Those who are less motivated or less inclined to help promote themselves (such as Nick Wicked, Juxt, J-Form to name a few) still get booked at our events but really don't play out at other parties all that often...

Hope that was illuminating for ya.

Have a good one,

Mitch

BIG BOY: Turntable Massacre 2, Earthdance Miami, signed to Resinated Plates - Ringmaster Productions - 4bidden Muzik and Euphoria Project, audio engineer for Everlast Productions, Resident @ Technology Tuesdays, Wax Warz, Zygota, Rewind, Infrastructure, plays live on The Womb alongside DJ Don-L roughly once every six weeks, Leggz @ Players (across from Space) in Miami on 10/22, the Aquasky vs Masterblaster party @ X-it, Breakin' Into Summer, Resinated @ Objex 10/08 and ALL of the Sundance park parties and every other event Resinated Plates throws, two of the three ranch parties, Virtue, R.A.W. @ Objex, main stage headliner at Mad House (filmed and aired on MTV and Univision), resident at X-it afterhours, Emerald City main stage, "The Underground" warehouse parties in Miami, 4 times at the Playground in WPB, and literally 50+ house parties...

DERANGED: Hosts a weekly radio show at Orbital Grooves Radio, threw Zygota (currently planning the followup), finalist at Wax Warz, all three Finca ranch parties, Mad House (filmed and aired on MTV and Univision), all of the Clewiston campout raves (Lupercalia, Bacchanalia, Floralia...)

That's all pretty much since the beginning of 2004, when we began assembling our roster. 2005 will be a monster year for the Euphoria Project and all of it's DJs... currently working out deals with 4 different promoters to trade our DJs at events throughout the state, which'll expand their popularity enormously.

Hope that helped!

Mitch
