  1. To address the concerns at hand regarding 66 and their liquor license: I have once again spoken to the management at 66 and apparently some of you on here have actually contacted them yourselves. Many thanks to those of you who did that, because it apparently helped to underline the problem to the 66 mgmt, and helped them realize the importance of fully resolving this situation. According to the 66 Nightclub management, they do indeed have a liquor license that stipulates they can serve alcohol until 5am on Friday night, and are also allowed to serve alcohol on Saturday from 7am until 5am. (On Sunday, however, alcohol cannot be served until noon.) So that was my error, there's actually a TWO HOUR gap from Friday to Saturday alcohol sales, not one hour. However, they can definitely stay open during those two hours, as long as the bars aren't serving alcohol. They have assured me that this is a special ruling strictly for nightclubs along the "Brickell Avenue Basin" (or some phrase to that effect) which includes Tobacco Road which is right around the corner from 66. They have also assured me that they have this in print, and I will be heading over there tomorrow morning to obtain said article, which I will then transcribe and post up here for everyone's enlightenment. Hopefully that will then permanently resolve this situation (at least concerning 66). Thanks to everyone for raising this issue, because if you hadn't I probably would have just "ASSUMED" everything was fine, and could have POTENTIALLY landed myself in a lot of trouble. peace, Mitch =O )

  3. Nope, no scientology here man... no religion at all actually, we want to keep the afterparty meeting as non-confrontational as possible. Basically we're going to have a few dozen representatives of local political, environmental and activist groups present - offhand, I know we've got the ACLU, the ONE Campaign, Code Pink: Women for Peace, Citizens for a Better South Florida, Clear Waters Foundation, Save the Seals, and a bunch of others that have yet to submit their info for the guest lists. At the end of the night we're all just going to get together, and for anyone who has yet to try to transition toward a more green lifestyle, this'll be an easy & non-confrontational way to ask the people who are right on the front lines, so to speak. I know personally there are a LOT of people in the dance music, rave & EDM scene who would LOVE to help out, and contribute to some of these groups, but unless you make a *CONCERTED* effort to insert yourself into the activist community, a lot of these groups are basically invisible. A lot of people just don't know where to turn. I think it's a natural progression for these events, much as EarthDance has been doing but even more intimate and personal. This is basically an attempt to be a matchmaker between people who are potential activists (or at least, potentially willing to do better things for the world and the environment), and the people who are ALREADY doing it, to provide everyone with a nice bridge to meet halfway and hopefully, yes, take their life to the next level. Not spiritually but with regards to caring about more than just whatever is in your immediate vicinity, thinking about how everything you do effects someone, somewhere, and hopefully changing at least a couple lives in the process. Maybe even myself. Hope that clarifies somewhat. peace
  4. Well, we *HAD* been actually throwing a mix of 18+ and all ages parties. But after seeing what an utter clusterf*ck it is to enforce & govern an all ages crowd (god those young kids and their drugs, they never seem to learn) EP pulled out completely from that crowd, leaving it to crews like Digital X, OzEnt, Lucho's people, as well as EMA and Hypnotic on the rave end of things. We still intend to throw SOME 18+ events like this one, but we're trying to transition to a more mature audience, basically bridging the gap between upscale clubs and underground raves. For all the people that are now in their late 20s and into their 30s and used to attend The Edge, The Saint, Nemesis, The Theatre, the original South Beach Kitchen Club, Club Nu, The Institute etc... we're trying to bring back some of the nostalgia & musical diversity of that time while still providing a quality professional event. No half measures or shortcuts, we want to keep our parties completely legit and completely get away from any shadiness or shoddiness we may have given into at our past parties. That's basically where we're at. peace =O )
  5. Thanks again for the clarification on this and the "staying open past 5am" situation. So basically you're saying, EVEN IF ALCOHOL SALES STOP AT 5am, there's no legal way 66 as a venue can stay open 'til 10am? If that's the truth, that's a seriously major problem for my event. I am now SERIOUSLY concerned. And will (as I've said) post an update once I've spoken to the venue. peace PS: Just out of curiosity, is Space the only venue in that area that has that exception/exemption?
  6. Hey there, I'm the main promoter/producer behind this event. I appreciate your clarification; I'm just repeating what the club told me - "two million dollar renovation" ... "$100,000 per DL2" ... "total of eight DL2's installed" ... "only other venue with more than eight DL2's is in Ibiza" is the basic gist of what they've told me. I was a bit skeptical but what the hell, you can read much of the same type of hype on the manufacturer's website where they tout Club 66 (then called Bricks of course) as "The Most Expensive High-End Lighting Installation in North America." That may be a mis-quote but that's the basic tone of the phrase they use. Sorry if any of that is wrong, like I said I was just parroting what was already told me. My silly fault, I suppose, for assuming the information I got was correct. Well, as we've discussed in the OTHER thread on this same subject, I've done everything on my end to ensure this is a legal, legitimate event. I already asked the owner and he consulted with his attorney and they both replied that 66 does INDEED have a 23 hour liquor license. I suppose in the end, before the event itself starts, I'll have to insist that I see a copy of their license, just to COMPLETELY cover myself and my company's ass. Euphoria Project may not be a PERFECT company - we've certainly made our share of mistakes over the years - but if this event were to be shut down and I were (even temporarily) arrested, I'm sure EP's reputation wouldn't exactly be improved in a POSITIVE direction. I'll be hitting up 66 tomorrow and will talk with the management AGAIN. And ask to see their liquor license in print. Worse comes to worst I suppose the liquor sales will be ending at 5am. But we shall see! I'll post an update on here once I find out the final verdict. peace, Mitch
  7. Well, I have to assume here, since the venue is the holder of the liquor license, if there ARE any penalties, the venue is the one responsible, correct? The bar sales are NOT my company's domain, we are simply throwing an event by contract at this venue. Just want to cover my ass as best as possible in case there are any repercussions. peace
  8. Sorry guys, I'm guessing SOMEONE in this situation is mistaken, because after seeing this post, I rode down to 66 and had a meeting with the management. The venue's Liquor License Attorney as well as the venue owner BOTH verified (for the 2nd time now) that they are *INDEED* able to sell alcohol for 23 hours a day, only shutting down their bars between 5-6am. We also verified that the VENUE ITSELF may stay open between 5-6am, as long as no alcohol is SOLD during that one hour period. Any alcohol in possession of the partygoers is fair game for being consumed, the venue just CANNOT SELL LIQUOR during that one hour span. Selling water, juice, soda, energy drinks, etc is also still completely legal - just nothing alcoholic. With this event, we have gone over EVERY POSSIBLE DETAIL with a fine-tooth comb (god I really dislike that expression), ensuring everything is legal and legit and 100% professional from start to finish. We've got off-duty police officers, we have an on-staff licensed paramedic/EMT, we have two full-time audio engineers, one light engineer, a stage manager, a set designer, seven stage hands, seventeen security guards, and a partridge in a pear tree, just for added effect. Here's the event in question, in case you were curious: ~~~~( R.S.V.P.
