reddog4063
I always love staying at the Mandalay Bay, the pool area is great...young crowds, close to everything but it is at the end of the strip. Expedia.com always has good deals in advance, so you can get stuff alittle cheaper.
xxqtbaby
ye i heard of mandalay bay hey thanks for helping
BillLe
If you're looking for cheap, I would recommend the Tropicana. It is located right on the strip, near the Mandalay Bay and right on the same intersection at MGM, NY/NY, and Excalibur.Let me know if you want that, I can get you casino rates at that property. drmoxx
damn...i just saw this reply i'm staying at the trop...gonna be there wednesday 10-20i was just scrambling to get a place for around 800 wed-moni had 5 other guys cancel within the last 3/4 weeks (was staying at the hard rock)when it was just me and just 1 other friend going we decided to cancel hard rock (close to 600/person) and find something a little cheaper.i think we're paying $785 total wed-mon
BillLe
If you want, I can check what my rates will be and you can rebook. They have a 72 or 48 hour cancellation policy and If you re-book you can just cancel the one you have now.
lmg
if you are looking for cheap, i would reccomend like bille did, look into the excalibur. Its not too bad, cheap and you can take the tram/shuttle right to the mandalay bay.
drmoxx
yeah, why not if i can save some more$$$...let me knowi think it may be 48 hours cancellation....but, i 'm going to bed soon (east coast).....i'll try and look again before i goto sleep let me know who i would have to contact for the players rate etc... maybe i can cancel my reservation tonight
BillLe
Tropicana is sold out for my rates. I do have the Stardust. The rates would be around $93 per weekday night and $125 per weekend night. You'd be looking at around $436. There are no rooms available for Sunday. What you can do, if it's cheaper, stay at Stardust Wed-Sat and check into the Trop on Sunday. Not the best end of the strip but the rooms are pretty nice.

drmoxx
don't stay at the trop....going from beautiful hotel to hotel and then having to come home to the trop was just depressingdidn't even feel like i was in vegas when we were in there.... i giving my friends hell for canceling at the last minute and forcing us to bargain hunt at the last secondwe're actually kicking ourselves for not taking the hit it would of cost us to stay at the hard rock where our original reservations werea couple of pluses is that it is really close to everything like billie said and its probably a lot cheaper, but i wouldn't stay there again.... your better off in the motel 6 if you really want to go cheap

xxqtbaby
omg ru kidding me is it really that bad? i was gona book tomorrow the tropicana ughhh getting frustrated and the prices r not staying same they keep going up
BillLe
lol, it isn't that bad. It is only if you're use to the mega hotels and staying at the nice spots. Bu tif you want to be cheap go for it. My question, did you stay in the Garden room?? I'm assuming you did because those rooms are down right nasty. But the Island Tower or the Pardaise tower isn't that bad at all. Definitely step up from the Motel 6 lol. Plus the motel 6 down the street had a shooting last week and someone died. Drug related. That wont happen at Trop. lol. drmoxx
yeah, i guess i'm used to the mega hotels.the rooms were clean.....it was a good place to just sleepdamn, i picked up some weed at the motel 6 last week (never got out of the cab though)that shit is scary

reddog4063
The trop is cool and close to everything. I always just get the cheapest room I can considering how little time I actually spend in there, as long as the hotel has a pool and is on the strip then I just go for the cheapest. I would rather spend that money elsewhere. Don't ever stay off the strip, no matter how cheap because you will spend all the money you "saved" on the room on cabfare getting back and forth, and its annoying mid-day to want to change clothes and you have to get in a cab.Have fun on your trip!!! Check out the updated club review sticky at the top of the board
BillLe
What was your rate?
jaycloud
At the tropicana ask for a high floor in the paradise tower. the beds have a bamboo framed mirrored ceiling circa 50's and a jacuzzi in the bedroom. Also the outside pool jacuzzi is open all night and can be a cozy spot because alot of the glossy/slick places close up the pool. The sahara is cool if you ask for the tower with the balconies facing west. The balconies are big, and a perk you can't find in the mega places. Also prices are good. jaycloud
Also, what to do in vegas that is cool, not commercial:Check out Amazing johnathan at the riveria. $40 ten oclock show. Gives you the feel of that entertainer/scam-artist style show that comes off the street like W.C. Fields or an Italian woody allen that you don't get much on the east coast. True Vegas. Do not miss it, cause the man may just overdose one day. Also, got to see "Show Girls of Magic" to be in the know about Vegas.$40 bucks at the San Ramo. Shit your pants funny in parts if you have a clue about girls club humor and the ramshackly small time scam artists men that serve it.Also, Mystere is an $85 dollar piece of eye candy worth seeing at the TI (treasure island casino.) But the venues in vegas are a little large and lose a bit of the east coast or european intimacy of dance performance. To make up for this we have the absolute best, world classs, russian, korean, chinese, japanese, performers IN THE WORLD here. I kid you not. Nobody pays dancers and gymnists like Vegas. We win hands down! (we even have Canadian water ballet champs here.) So come on down and LIVE IT UP!
