philippio
I think it's because hip-hop artists make every effort to target the largest audience possible. You also have to remember that there is a large geographical section of the US where EDM is nearly nonexistent. Also take into consideration that our generation, for the most part, has a very short attention span when it comes to music. Therefore, they can't be bothered to seek out something different when they've heard the songs they like on the radio and they know what clubs to go to where they will hear the same songs that they know and like. Many club owners start out with a venue that plays only EDM and all too quickly, they realize that the money is elsewhere and either switch music formats entirely or offer a parallel alternative. Finally, realize that people who go to clubs to dance to hip-hop are the ones that are willing to spend the most money. Most people who listen to EDM are cheap. We like guestlists. We all think we deserve to get into any venue without paying a dime and we run circles around promoters, club-owners, etc for free drink tickets! funketeer
Just like ebonics took over proper english and thug behaviour took over being pollite and well educated, the best way to invade a country is through their children, the most vulnerable and marketing responsive part of the population...what hip-hop has done to the american culture and subsequently to the world, could take generations to fix...or at least wash away...until...give it yo, reprezent bitches

My friend has been promoting hip hop gigs for years now and its true you walk into any venue he's done like Mansion, Prive, Rain, etc. and everybody's lining up to buy bottles...its crazy....and you see the way the dress and you're like "something is not right here" but its very true....
