Armand Van Helden

Yah, I'm DEFINETLY going to make this one! Surprised its not a sticky.

Its an album release party for his forthcoming album "Nympho" on Southern Fried Records. (Which I believe is owned by Fat Boy Slim). I've heard the first single "Into your Eyes" and its HOT. It has a similiar groove like his hit track "My My My" from last year.

I'm REALLY hoping he shows up to this. He flaked out on 2 shows in NYC the past year or so. He was billed to play at Centro-Fly's closing party but for reasons unknown he didnt make it and Junior Sanchez filled in for him. Then he was the headliner for this rave at Hammerstein on Memorial Day weekend last year but he backed out I hear due to the promoters not offering him enough money.

NEway, I last caught him in 2001 for a night he did at the Roxy and it was fantastic. But to be honest, I've heard some lackluster sets from him in the past. I'll NEVER forget the night he did at Sound Factory previewing tracks from 2 Future for U; hearing "You Don't Know Me", "Flowers" and "Psychic Bounty Killaz" for the first time totally blew me away.

I thought it was a three DJs, - SLim, Sanchez and Van Helden.

LMFAO, I came really late as I was held up w/ school and shit. ABout 30 minutes after I came, they did the whole "Slim coming out of the coffin" thing.

Why can't I hate on him, he hated on nyc first so he can get bent. Never said anything about his dj/production skills. Don't like the fact that, as far as I could find out, he's never spun here so how/why should he judge us as cheesy music lovers....again, he can go fuck himself sideways with a cow proder

PWNED!

when i spoke to him at crobar a few months ago he was ver vocal about the lack of great crowds in nyc. And then pointed to the main room during the grammy party and said "SEE WHAT I MEAN" "NYC ONLY LIKES THE POPULAR CHEESE AND HARD CRAP" i was like sooooooo true lol and we talked some more about music adn styles and how europe seems to understand HOUSE more than america. And how he wishesthing would be a bit different over here, and how there needs to be more MUSIC ONLY OWNERS club. And just as he made that comment 2 porn stars or stripper looking women walked in and our eyes were on them for the moment.

you contradict yourself so much...in all of your post you are always talking about what great talent NYC is bringing in and how you're going to party 432 days straight so that you can see everyone...I wonder if you were just agreeing with him because he is "industry" and you felt like sucking his cock

:swallow:

The way you follow me around it looks like your the one sucking my shit. Notice how i never say a damn thing to you unless its to respond to something stupid out your mouth. Now with that said NYC does bring in great talent and im always saying it. So wuts the contradiction.

i can't say i've witnessed it firsthand, but i've heard AVH doesn't take his live sets very seriously...drinks enough liquor in the booth where it affects his spinning, and supposedly he cares more about the groupie chicks than the music....

but i will never knock his production...the man as a producer is a genius....

Well we can answer this w/ one of your previous quotes:

And then pointed to the main room during the grammy party and said "SEE WHAT I MEAN" "NYC ONLY LIKES THE POPULAR CHEESE AND HARD CRAP" i was like sooooooo true lol .

 Busted!

Gabe said he pointed to the main room. Most of use know that DJs in big rooms cater to the mainstream sound. Have all of you forgotten how much you complain because DJ whats his face hot shot played nothing but old big room crowd pleaser's. How the music is only good until the wee hours of the morning or after noon. NO shit NYC has great talent but most of its talent spins in small spaces to crowds of 50 people or less. The big name pioneers are scared to loss their following so they play cookie cuter bull shit or BOOM!! BOOM!! Tracks that are closer related to noise than House music.
