conchman
Never clubbed in NYC before, want to hit one of the big clubs. Was thinking of Oakey/Collins Friday night at Crobar and/or Vaeth/Jules Saturday at Avalon. Which is recommended for a guy who does not like to wait in a line very long? At what time is it recommended to see the headliners at each venue? What can I expect in terms of lights/sounds/effects/dancers/etc general atmosphere of club?Crowd/atmosphere depends on music or not? I will probably only make one or the other - my music taste is tilting more toward Oakey/Collins but Vaeth/Jules could be interesting (an odd pairing no doubt). Can I get some recommendations maybe even other suggestions? I will be with a hot chick so also looking for sitting/chill out/talking space if possible. Any help is appreciated. Other clubs/DJ's suggestions? We couldn't find a good reason to go to Miami and spend $1000 staying up for 5 days this year, so we're just ignoring it completely! We're bringing in the two newest additions to the Homegrown All*Stars who are sure to keep the feet moving right here in NYC. Ignorance is bliss.Dj's on the night::Lunic(Babylon's Kiss)Chalking up year 17 behind the decks, Lunic has appeared in just about every notable venue NYC has had since 1987 including Danceteria , Vinyl, Limelight, Centro-fly, the Bank, Sullivan Room, Tunnel, to name but a few. Legendary underground parties like XK & One Step Beyond cannot be mentioned without highlighting his musical contributions. Most recently, Lunic appeared in the Dominican Republic @ Barcode Nights Vol.1 alongside John Selway & David Hollands. His productions (seven to date) have appeared on MFS-berlin, Soul Sauce Recordings, Sifted Recordings & One Step Beyond Records and have caught the attention of Corvin Dalek, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Randall Jones, Terry Francis, Junior Vasquez, Eric Morillo, Balance Record Pool & dj Vibe, and that’s just some of the bigger dogs! 2005 will have Lunic releasing an independent full length artist album, so keep those to the floor and listen for the rumble! Manny FreytesManny Freytes started his DJ career as a Hip- Hop DJ playing along side of some of Hip Hops best DJ's such as DJ Kid Capri, Doo Wop, S&S and Love Bug Starski @ The Fever in the Bronx where Manny held down a residency. Since then, Manny has been a regular opener and fill in DJ for Danny Tenaglia at his legendary and award winning Be Yourself parties @ Vinyl/Arc. At last year's WMC, Manny found himself playing at DT's party @ Club Envy alongside DJ Vibe, Chus & Ceballos, Tony Thomas and more. In NYC, he's played at notable clubs including Ikon (opening for Danny Tenaglia), Sullivan Room (opening for Hector Romero), Filter 14, Discotheque, and Centro Fly, as well as a number of lounges, bars and loft parties. Manny rocked Homegrown's closing Tuesday night at Sin Sin - so we can only expect more of the same this time around!plus:Nathan Leonard (HomegrownNYC)Bogdan (HomegrownNYC)$10 at the door$5 with RSVP to hookitup@homegrownnyc.com or with password: "I'm a dancin machine" Sullivan Room is located at 218 Sullivan Street (bet.
