Deep Dish Interview-Time Out-NY

Recommended Posts

I just read the club section of this week Time Out-NY....very interesting article regarding Deep Dish playing their set at Twilo bi-monthly residence and how they wanted to expand their music throughout the U.S.,...they feel their is alot of expectation from the crowd they are playing to at Twilo, because they're in NYC and people would want to hear the new stuff they play...but its funny in one question they ask if each of them had ever went to another club in the city, and they said they had gone to Float which consists of a dj playing cheezy tracks to a crowd who doesnt know anything about music...they mentioned how they wanted this particular crowd to come hear their set at Twilo and to listen what real music is...

I went several times to hear Deep Dish at Twilo.....they are very good djs....its great that its not as crowded as S&D or PVD (theres room to move/dance) but I think they deserve better reputation in the industry compare to the big name djs...i think next year they will become more famous because they do remix songs from big artists....

SEE THAT COMMENT ALONE MIGHT TURN ME OFF TO GO SEE THEM, every dj is unique in there own way. and plays a certain way for a croud for a reason, let it be because they like it, or someone else likes it... Thats like saying that You take your reg Bar person who loves Z100 and there top 40 music(there own prefrence)Hey say they love this crap, there day revolves around brittnay spears, dont' mean that if they go to twilo to hear S&D PVD JR.. there gonna enjoy themselves and appriciate music more? prob not..

BUT HEY if everyone in this world was the same, it would be a boring world.. and ONE PACKED CLUB! hehehe XOXOXOXOXOXO

Or was that just Tranceport?"

They are two extraordinary DJ's who go their start in DC playing a small club caled State of the Union, and are finally getting the worldwide recognition they deserve. To the best of my knwledge they play semi regularly at Fabric in London, as well as many other hot UK destinations.

In terms of what you say about them wanting the people at Float to hear their music, I don't think you are looking at it correctly. What I think they intended is not that they want these people at their sets at Twilo, but more to expand their horizons and teach them to appreciate other forms of non-traditional (other than popular, top 40 type stuff) electronic music.

Damn I can't fait for Friday. See ya there.

Hellz Yeah!!! Go DC!!

hehe...

Before I make a comment on their comment about the people and music at Float, I want to see their exact words. I'm sure they didn't intend it in the way you think Lipz...at the very least its a bad image..why would they do that?

BTW, do y'all know where they're originally from...I think its Iran..came here in the early 80's.

Raving is a state of mind.

It has nothing to do with what you wear, how old you are or how you look.

Its all about the vibe!
