DJ Icey is often referred to as the "King of Funky Breaks" (Mixmag April 1998) is the multi

platinum Moonshine recording artist responsible for defining Funky Breaks and Florida Breaks. Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey first got interested in music in his teens. He was especially fond of early 1980s new wave synth pop, industrial, and hip-hop music. The boom in club music during the late 1980s hooked him and when he began DJing early in the 1990s, he usually played out acid house and funky breaks. He gained his first residency at The Edge a large club in Orlando, Florida, where he is also credited with getting The Chemical Brothers their first US show on July 4, 1993. When British DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong heard an early single produced for Icey's own Zone records in 1996, he signed the big-beat precursor Galaxy Breaks to his ffrr label. DJ Icey still runs Zone records and the Tree imprint, but often releases tracks and remixes on many labels under various pseudonyms including: DJ Icee, Flip, Fluppy, Future Lover, Groove Ascender, Jarko Boomer, Lickety-Split, Mia, Montana Rangers, Mr. Tasty, Reactor 7, Richard Fu*k, Sanctuary Mission, Sign Of The Times, and Yo-Yo Rodeo.

// B-BOY/B-GIRL COMPETITION:

Some of you may remember our last B-BOY comp at the Asylum back in 2003 "BREAK- FAST." For those of you who were not there, you better ask somebody! Breakfast was one of the dopest events in the 9 year history of the True Crew. It was an event that featured some of the best breakbeat music of it's time, and it attracted some of the most INSANE dancers that the North East had to offer. We are hoping to make tonight even better than the last one!

FADAYZE of the Losstunnown crew is coming back to represent once again. He will be helping us organize, and judge the battle. The battle will have 3 separate categories: 1.)BREAKDANCING 2.) POPPING 3.) HOUSE DANCING. There will be a $100 cash prize for the 1st place winner of each category. Second place winners will also receive compensation to be announced at the show.

The Breakdancing competition will start at 9pm & is scheduled to end around 12am. If you would like to be a part of the comp., you need to sign up with Fadayze by 8:30pm on the night of the event.
