This Thursday in AXIS is a Special Event with DJ Dave Seaman!!

Here is his bio:

London, UK

Biography

As a DJ he?s toured the world and released several high-profile mix compilations. As one half of Brothers In Rhythm he?s climbed the highest reaches of the charts and worked with some of the biggest names in dance and pop.

Dave Seaman grew up in Leeds and always wanted to be a DJ. He ran a mobile disco in his spare time, playing the weddings and pubs circuit, then moved south in the mid-eighties to take up a job at DMC ? the company that completely revolutionised dance music with their groundbreaking ?DJ only? remix service, World DJ Mixing Championships and publishing of Mixmag ? the UK?s first ever clubbing magazine that lay the way for today?s mass market of club titles. Beginning as an office junior, Dave eventually became editor of Mixmag in 1989, just as the title made the transition from in-house newsletter to newsstand publication.

Dave let the DJing slide for a while and launched himself into the journalist/clubber lifestyle, making frequent trips up the M1 to visit the Hacienda in Manchester. When an associate at Mixmag started a night at Shelly?s in Stoke, with a then-unknown Sasha at the decks, he roped Dave in as monthly resident for when Sasha wasn?t playing.

At DMC, Dave met Steve Anderson, who worked in the company?s studio. A few nights messing around led to Such A Good Feeling, a relentlessly uplifting piano house anthem with a vocal sampled from a cover version of Side Effect?s disco classic Always There, later to be a chart hit for acid jazz band Incognito. Dave and Steve called themselves Brothers In Rhythm and the record was released on Island?s 4th & Broadway label in 1991, becoming a huge hit and an enduring club classic. Singer Charvoni, whose vocal the duo had originally sampled, later joined them for live shows.

Brothers In Rhythm went on to one of the most successful production careers ever in dance music. After the success of Such A Good Feeling, Dave and Steve released several singles under the name of Brothers Love Dubs on DMC offshoot Stress Records, such as The Mighty Ming and Ming?s Incredible Disco Machine, capitalising on the emerging progressive house sound of the early nineties. Only one other Brothers In Rhythm single was released, 1994?s Forever And A Day, again featuring Charvoni, but its failure to match the success of Such A Good Feeling did nothing to harm their career as producers/remixers-to-the-stars, which by then was already well underway.

This launched Brothers In Rhythm on a remix and production career which has since seen them remix artists such as Billie Ray Martin (twice), David Bowie, Lulu (twice, oh dear), Sasha, Chic, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Janet Jackson, Alexander O?Neal, Seal, Sabrina Johnston, Judy Cheeks, Take That, D:Ream, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Michael Jackson, New Order and Art Of Noise, as well as producing several records each by Kylie Minogue and Pet Shop Boys.

While his studio career took off, Dave?s DJing continued to gather speed. After relinquishing the controls at Mixmag in 1991, his next big break came with the opening of Renaissance in Mansfield, where he became a resident alongside Sasha and, later, John Digweed, cementing his reputation on the UK club scene. His relationship with Renaissance has continued to this day and he?s mixed several compilation albums for the club. These days he?s a regular guest at Renaissance events worldwide and can often be seen at the club?s new home at Media, Nottingham.

Dave?s relationship with DMC proved enduring. He became manager of Stress Records and until recently worked out of DMC?s studios. In 1998, however, he became disillusioned with the UK club scene and went to live in New York for a year. Thanks to the popularity of the progressive trance sound in some areas of the US he found plenty of DJing opportunities out there, although he continued to cross the Atlantic for bookings.

Mix albums: Renaissance Vol 4 (Renaissance); Renaissance: Awakening (Renaissance); Dave Seaman: Buenos Aires (Global Underground)
