belladonna0276 Posted February 16 Report Share Posted February 16 Flags is great, but Iwo Jima is even better.Adam Beach, who portrayed Ira Hayes, should have been nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar.And the movie was very accurate to the book. I'm surprised that they didn't show Ralph "Iggy" Ignatowski's mutilated corpse. I guess Clint deemed that it was too brutal to depict, as the Japanese severed his testicles and put in his mouth.i think the fact that he didn't show his corpse made it even more effective because you could only imagine what the japanese had done to him. in the book, they describe what the japanese supposedly did to him. he was brutally tortured for 3 days. they cut out his eyes, ears, smashed in his head, just so awful...after i read that passage, i thought about it for days after:shake: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
