bmlewis Posted August 17 Report Share Posted August 17 I was at the last Sven Vath show at Twilo. It was a terrific night of music. He was on when I showed up around two. He spun very hard tech-house for the first four hours or so. No vocals, little melody, lots of beeps and he really knew how to build up the energy until you thought the place was gonna explode. The last couple of hours he spun really smooth trancey beats and ended the night perfectly. Again no real melodies. I would highly recommend seeing Sven Vath if you haven't yet. I've been following him for quite a long time (all the way back from early nineties), he's one of the first guys to start playing trance. But his style lately has changed, and at Twilo played mostly hard tech-house, which I don't like that much. I was hoping to hear his older, more melodic trance tracks (like L'Esperanza or Your Touch just to name a few), which didn't happen. I'd say I like him as a producer better than as a DJ.------------------Beauty projection into reflection is always the worst way to start. Hard tech-house is exactly what I go for (Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, etc.) I was surpirsed to hear Sven Vath spinning that kind of stuff when I saw him, but I didn't know what to expect so I wasn't disappointed. I do enjoy deep trance and I do have some sets of his that are like that that I really enjoy. If you were there looking for that, I can see why you were disappointed. Honestly, though, there was some good trance for the last couple of hours. If he had stayed with the hard house I probably would have left before he finished his set.
