READY TO SHAKE THE FOUNDATIONS IN SYDNEY THIS LABOUR DAY WEEKEND!

After years of planning…The “Godskitchen Boombox†concept is now revealed as a unique architectural, multimedia, visual and music event concept.

Following on from its hugely successful debut in the Ukraine, which saw the attendance of 15,000 fans, the “Godskitchen Boombox†will be making its way to Sydney and Melbourne where Australian fans will be able to experience this unique structure. This extraordinary production is a must-see and will be landing in Sydney with trance music’s superstar DJ’s Cosmic Gate, Blank & Jones, John 00 Fleming and Tiesto’s live vocalist JES.

This colossal rectangular structure will house the state-of-the-art DJ equipment. It will also act as a giant screen from which an astounding combination of lighting and visuals can be projected in perfect synchronization with the music.

The Godskitchen Boombox is the brainchild of ‘1024’ the people behind Exyzt, the Parisian based design collective who are pioneers of structural projection and responsible for numerous art and cultural design installations across Europe. At over 16 meters wide, 8 meters high and 6 meters deep the structure combines next generation technology whilst marrying architecture with art.

This month we feature JES:

Jes Brieden is a singer, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in New York City, she studied art and singing in an art school. In 2001, while she was working at a recording studio in LA, Jes met Mike Olson, and the two formed Guardians of the Earth. Songs they produced include Star Children and One Moon Circling. Star Children was included on Paul van Dyk's 2001 Ministry of Sound compilation The Politics of Dancing. Inspired by this new voice of herself, she began working with more DJs and producers.

Her most well known works were created with Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden, known as Gabriel & Dresden. They formed the group Motorcycle, and its 2003 hit As the Rush Comes was a number one single on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2004, where it also became the first year-end number one Dance Airplay track of the same year. As The Rush Comes gave Jes international exposure, which then allowed her to perform in larger venues and festivals.

Since meeting Tiësto, Jes signed with his record label, Black Hole Recordings, and released her first solo album 'Disconnect'. She also graced Tiësto’s newest artist album Elements of Life with the song 'Everything' and continues to wow crowds as the opening artist for the Tiësto Worldwide Tour of Elements Of Life. Jes has also collaborated with DJs like D:Fuse, Deepsky and Solar Stone, producing tracks like Living The Dream, Ghost, and Like A Waterfall. The last appears on the internationally acclaimed DJ Tiësto’s In Search of Sunrise 4; her other songs "People Will Go" appears on In Search of Sunrise 5, "Imagination" on In Search of Sunrise 6, and an acoustic version of Imagination on Gabriel & Dresden's Bloom Album.

This month we feature BLANK & JONES:

Blank & Jones is a Cologne, Germany based Trance duo, consisting of the members Jan Pieter Blank and Jaspa Jones. They have released eight albums and more than 16 singles since their first single release "Sunrise" in 1997.

Piet Blank who recognized the great desire in him for music had his first experience in spinning a record on a turntable at age 16. Jaspa Jones, on the other hand, had his first experience as a DJ at age 19. Together with help from Andy Kaufhold (producer) they formed the trance production team Blank & Jones after meeting at the Popkomm music conference.

Even though, they had been together for a few years, their first album, In the Mix, was a studio production that came out in 1999. As of 2008, thirteen of their singles have made it into the German Top 50, and three into the Top 20. Each album made the Top 50, including two which reached the Top Ten.

Blank & Jones have teamed up with Robert Smith from The Cure, Anne Clark, Sarah McLachlan, Claudia Brücken from (Propaganda), and Delerium. They have also contributed to the Café del Mar compilation series and produced their own chill-out albums, Relax (the editions),

In 2006 Blank & Jones and their long-standing production colleague Andy Kaufhold collated their finest material on one release, The Singles, which also included two new tracks. The album was also released in Limited Edition format, in which The Singles are complemented by a DVD, bringing together all Blank & Jones videos on one disc for the first time.

They released their latest single entitled "Miracle Cure" on May 30, 2008 off their new studio album The Logic of Pleasure which is a collaboration with New Order's frontman Bernard Sumner.

When asked about the key to their success, their response is:

“We do everything digitally, on the basis of Final Scratch, which allows us to use our own edits and mixes, nothing comes straight from tape. Every set we play is unique, not only sound-wise but also in terms of what we play and how we play it. Roughly 60% of our set consists of our own repertoire, as where better to present our own material than via the DJ decks.â€

We feature COSMIC GATE for our final feature this month:

Over 10 boundary-pushing years, Nic Chagall and Bossi have evolved Cosmic Gate into one of the most creative and highly-sought-after electronic music acts in the world. Revered uber-producers, their musical acumen has seen them become long-term favourites of the trance’s Big 5 DJs with their 3 hugely-received albums transporting anthems like ‘Body of Conflict’, ‘I Feel Wonderful’, ‘Analog Feel’, or the classics ‘Exploration of Space’ and Fire Wire to the dancefloor. As DJs, their kinetic, blood-pumping live performances are seen by hundreds of thousands of club and festival goers annually. Playing a 100 nights every year, it’s this ever-visible club presence that saw them reach their highest position to-date on the DJ Mag Top 100, landing at No.62 in 2008.

Following a chance meeting at a label office in Cologne in late 1998, the pair collaborated for the first time. It’s a production partnership that has become one of the dance world’s most successful and memorable. In their homeland of Germany, they’ve maintained a consistent level of chart success, with no fewer than 7 Top 40 singles to their name and a Top 10 hit in the UK in 2001, with the quintessential club hit, Fire Wire. Drawing on a broad-range of their individual musical tastes and influences, they’ve continued to advance and enhance the sound… Following up the long-players ‘Rythm & Drums’ and ‘No More Sleep’, in 2006 they released ‘Earth Mover’, which saw a seismic shift towards a more melodic and electronically orientated music. Including the club hits ‘Analog Feel', ‘Should Have Known’ and ‘I Feel Wonderful’, the long-player was IDMA nominated for Best Album of 2007 and was latterly seen as a new ‘year one’ for Cosmic Gate.

In 2009 Nic and Bossi are set to release their fourth studio album ‘Sign of the Times’, which contains 11 floor-monsters-in-waiting, last year’s vocal anthem ‘Body of Conflict’ and the latest smash single ‘Not Enough Time’, which in the words of Tiësto is “a great and solid vocal trancer that touches all your musical senses!†And in the broader scale on ‘Sign of the Times’ Armin van Buuren says “The new Cosmic Gate album is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. They are on the forefront of the dance music sound of the moment… Bring on 2009!â€

Over their production lifetime, the Cosmic Gate remixes have become almost as fêted as their productions. Essentially a blow by blow of trance music’s A-list, Nic and Bossi lent their studio know-how to productions by the likes of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, John O Callaghan, Above & Beyond’s OceanLab project, Rank 1 and Blank & Jones. Most recently they rewired Deadmau5’s ‘Clockwork’ to devastating effect and created two highly-praised remixes of ‘Vincent De Moor - Fly Away’ and ‘Veracocha - Carte Blanche’.
