Founded in February 2008, Killswitch is a weekly happy hour dedicated to featuring the Bay Area's finest underground techno and house talent. Founded by Stap[e DJ Javaight and Black Market Techno DJ dCOY, Killswitch has featured DJs such as Alland Byallo, Dave Aju, Jonah Sharp, Sutekh, Clint Stewart, Worthy, J.Phlip, Drumcell,Todd Sines and live PA's from Monocle, Auralism's Marc Smith, and Perla.* With the addition of new residents Mossmoss & David Siska, Killswitch has established itself as an end of the week hangout for heads, techno lovers and party people alike.* Kill off your week with the sound of the underground at Killswitch. This week at Killswitch: Sammy D ( [KONTROL] ), Tasho (Mothership, Stompy), Jackson (The MML) and dCOY! About Sammy D: What happens when you mix growing up in Alaska surrounded by Christian Music, years of exposure to the rave scene in the mid-90s, and acid? You get the enigmatic [KONTROL] resident, Sammy D. With a residency at one of San Francisco's best techno nights, eight successful years of dj'ing behind him, releases on Classic, Dirtybird and Buzzin' Fly, and numerous side projects such as Lark After Dark and a 50's lounge act, Sammy D.'s middle name is versatility. His prodigal talent as a musican and dj, combined with a 6th sense for whipping any crowd into a funk, has taken San Francisco by storm, or at least a light shower. About Tasho: Tasho is a long time defender of the San Francisco dance community. As a resident of the timeless Stompy club night, Tasho (nee Tasho Nicolopulous) has been bringing jam after jam to Bay-Area clubs for over a decade. Alongside production partner and vocal whiz Monty Luke, his first single for mothership ? ?Paranoid? ? has had trainspotters clamoring for a sneak peak. Expect much About Jackson: Jack O'Shaughnessy, aka Jackson, is a DJ and writer in San Francisco. He has been DJing in SF since 1999, and spent five years throwing events with the DHP promotions crew and record label. Jackson currently is the editor for the SF-based music and events website, The MML (www.themml.com), contributor to SF's inGen Magazine (www.ingenmagazine.com), and correspondent for Resident Advisor (www.residentadvisor.com). In addition, Jackson maintains a blog at www.jacksondeep.com. About dCOY: Tim dCOY was raised in the Cleveland suburb of Elyria, OH where he spent many a day on a skateboard, strumming his guitar, and playing in psychedelic/alt/Manchester influenced bands. In the late ?80s, Tim began going to dance clubs, and found himself being more and more influenced by the electronic sounds of Meat Beat Manifesto, Ministry, Nitzer Ebb and 808 State (to name a few). In 1996, being heavily influenced by the more raw, stripped down sounds of the Midwest, Tim started DJing in Gainesville, Florida, playing sets of pure techno - contrasting heavily against the local standards of breaks and trance. Always in search of a home, Tim would eventually leave Gainesville to follow his heart to the West. By 2007 Tim was in San Francisco and DJing on a steady diet of minimal techno and tech-house. Alongside fellow DJs Razvan, Farzana, and IXD, Tim helped establish Oakland?s now legendary Black Market Techno. In February 2008, Tim decided that everyone needed more techno and co-founded Killswitch with DJ Javaight, a weekly techno happy hour in the Lower Haight where Tim continues to push the envelope and the rhythm into the hearts and minds of listeners. Over the years, Tim has played alongside artists such as Dan Curtin, Seth Troxler, Josh Wink, Meat Beat Manifesto, Todd Sines, Reference, Eric Johnston, and Sassmouth, among others. Always keeping the dance floor a priority, dCOY drops with a solid mix of tech and textures, vibrations and aftershocks. Music: techno, minimal, house, tech house, acid, electro, disco
