TWO Nights ONLY!! After playing to audiences in Auckland, Montreal and NYC, here is a play for yogis and non yogis alike to laugh at the strange path one takes to prove that they are on a higher spiritual journey. Meet Celine - heart broken after having a one night stand with her guru Bikram Choudhury (founder of the popular self titled hot yoga practice). Giving up a successful career as a designer she locks herself in her apartment for 90 days in order to find spiritual transcendence and prove to her lover how 'spiritual' and devoted to yoga she really is. With no company but for the help of her elderly Indian housemaid Abha, can she really elevate herself above all worldly attachments (sex, friends, money, food) through yoga? Writer and Performer Leigh Fitzjames Love and Light marks Fitzjames's North American debut as both playwright and performer, after writing and performing spoken word (Bowery Poetry Club, Rising Voices), jazz (J&L Jazz Duo) and acting in experimental and musical theatre (Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, The Shelter's Soarward Holiday Party, Massive Company's The Girls Show, Redmond Barry Theatre's Shanty). With a mix of spoken word, yoga poses and song, Love and Light meditates on Fitzjames's obsessive yoga practice and self discovery - the stretching, the philosophy, the teacher crushes and more.
