Kevin Bazell or known more popularly amongst dance circles as Kazell has infected the American club scene with his unique brand of electronic dance music with funky tough grooves and the ability to manipulate the crowd.

It all started in 1991 when Kazell left the Acid House movement in Manchester to cross-pollinate the action to our side of the pond. After gaining notoriety in Atlanta as a favorite local resident at Liquid Groove, Kazell relocated to Los Angeles in 1999 and found his niche as resident for the legendary Liquified events and at LA’s mega-club Spundae.

By working with the head promoters at Liquified and Spundae, Kazell grabbed a residency playing at the largest events in the West Coast. Managing to always work the crowd into frenzy while respectfully positioning the guest DJ into their time slot, he became a tremendous asset to the dance music community. In a short time, Kazell has set the bar for resident DJs across the nation. Known as the “hottest thing in warm-up,” (LA Times) he has constantly been handpicked to perform with massive headliners such as Sasha and John Digweed due to his special ability to manipulate the energy of the music in ways that are always exciting, innovative and intrinsically intriguing to the fans. After first working with the duo on their U.S. Northern Exposure Tour in 1995, Kazell was also chosen by John Digweed for a guest spot on his prestigious Kiss FM radio show as well as the opener for his Global Underground 019 album at the historic Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Kazell has been credited as a master of setting mood and building suspense in his DJ sets. He has earned the loyal support of DJs and fans alike - garnering a nod as one of the Top 5 DJ’s in LA Weekly’s 2002 Music Awards. Kazell’s sound holds a tough and funky vibe of soulful percussive beats and angelic melodies that carry a punch both heavy and uplifting at the same time. Using elements of various styles, he blends rhythmic waves of Electro-funk, House, Tribal-trance and Breaks. Over the span of the last 10+ years, Kazell’s passion for music, the life and the scene have kept the people coming back to the club from one weekend to the next.

With a keen understanding of the organic relationship between the music and the clubbers on the dance floor, Kazell has taken this seed of knowledge into the studio. With recent collaborations with production partners Mike Hiratzka and Trevor (AKA Teapot), Kazell will soon launch a series of 12” releases, beginning with “Prime” on Velocity Records with remixes by Quivver, “Reaction” on Alternative Route and “Things Can Only Get Better”. Their work has such strong appeal and creativity that Vanguard Records took notice and asked Kazell and Mike to remix Sinead O’ Conner’s “My Lagan Love.” Kazell will also release his debut mixed CD compilation “Driven” with Velocity Records, under its subsidiary Black Label on September 23, 2003.

Kazell is widely recognized as one of America's brightest talents and his popularity has been growing steadfast. With his upcoming compilation “Driven” and with DJ tours in the UK, Japan, Germany, plus an extended US tour in support of the album release, it's easy to see why he has drawn the attention of the world’s top jocks, promoters, critics and clubbing fans alike. Keep an eye on Kazell, his music and his passion for the dance music scene as he is driven to reach new heights.
