firewire external storage?

brands ? compatibility with osx? size?

any recommendations .. just thinking of going with the lacie d2 (250GB) .. i hope that can keep me going for a few months. :)

firewire 400 is a must

firewire 800 is nice

usb 2 is a plus.

cool dan thanks .. i saw the lacie for about $219 online .. i might just go with that since it stands up straight and all that jazz and it has the triple interface ;)

The thing I like about the enclosures though is that you can upgrade the drive if needed.

Oh, and Linksys makes a nifty little Ethernet to USB 2.0 converter so you can make the drives into NAS devices.

If you ever decide to get an enclosure... make sure they work with Macs. My next door neighbor brought is USB2 enclosure over here but it didn't work on my Macs. I thought all those devices were plug and play... but guess not. In general I would stay away from Maxtor drives... any Maxtor drive... your Lacie decision seems like a good one. The Maxtor drives only have a year warranty... Seagate HD's come with 5 years Warranty.
