House Party Sep. 10 in Miramar (Katrina Victims Benefit Party)

hey guys... we've been talking about the possibility of throwing a house (pool) party next Saturday in Miramar. The purpose of the party is to aid in the relief efforts following the devastation that Katrina left in some states.

we are still looking for some people to help in organization and specially with DJing equipment (specially TT's and another monitor)

I can probably get some CDJs as well as turntables, but I'm not 100% about that yet.

I have a system.... its a Numark CDN-90 with a Numark mixer. I have an amp that pushes just 2 EON's. That is fine for a small party but you would need bigger speakers for a larger party.

I think we could be fine with only TT's most DJs have enough 12''s

that way there wouldn't be much equipment to carry around. I have a mixer and a monitor at home

If we are going to do this someone needs to take charge and start planning, its only a week away. I don't mind being in charge or at least assisting. Before we begin anything though we need to decide what type of things we want at this party. Is it going to be just music? Music and drinks? Or food as well?

I think since our goal is to raise money we shouldnt have people spend too much on other things. We can have snack food or something like that but nothing like a full out bbq. Also maybe make it BYOB, that way if you want to drink something you have it right there with you.

Does everyone think at least $10 per person is a good amount to charge at the door? More? Less?(even though I don't think it should be less then $10) With the entrance you get to hear some great local djs and hang out for a good cause. This amount can be the minimum and if you want to donate more no one will stop you.

As Durtylexx posted on the other thread Eastern Financial is willing to double donations that are dropped of at their offices for the Red Cross. I definitely think we should donate through them to make our donation even greater.

If people want to pm me i'll start a list of the dj's that want to play. Or someone else can be in charge of this part.

do you think only TT's will be enough... or do we want CD players too (for me TT's only is fine that way we don't need more equipment to be carried around)

as far as food.... I'd say the most we should do is Hot Dogs... I have a Gas Barbecue outside, so if anyone wants to take care of handling that, let me know as well. If not we will at least have chips and stuff...

$10 for entry is perfect... all will be given to donation. So it will be BYOB as well.... I'll buy a few beer cases but it probably won't be enough for all

sine Saturday is a big party night, I'm thinking we should do it from like 11 AM until 10 PM so people can go out later on.... If you wish to stay and chill out be my guest... I probably won't be going anywhere afterwards

one quick question.... how can we prove the money is going towards donations?? this could be key for some people

Otherwise they'll just have to trust us, i'll count the money before the party is over and scan a copy of the receipt after I turn it in, lol

we'll sort out how we'll make donations during the week and we will let u know beforehand

as far as food... I proposed hot dogs because they are easy, cheap, and most everyone likes them... so maybe you can bring your own and the barbecue will be up and running for those who want to eat

another thing.... about what I said making an afternoon only party (until 10 or 11 PM) so people can go out to clubs and stuff later on, what are your thoughts on this?? I know some DJs have gigs on that day as well

What i have seen and know what people do.... you have start time of 11am but people dont start showing up till 3 or so because they partied the night before..... say 11 but i doubt people will show up that early... just have an open end time.

I would start it around 1 ish till who know when....... also at 1 it is very hot outside unless you have a pool
