Audi's new S8 debuts as the high-performance sport version of the Audi flagship, now powered by a 450-horsepower 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine with intake manifold technology developed on the all-conquering Audi R8 LeMans-winning prototype race car. The engine delivers maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 3500 rpm, with 90 percent of maximum torque available at just 2300 rpm, resulting in a 0 to 62 mph time of just 5.1 seconds.

With fluid, yet aggressive styling, punctuated by large fender flares that integrate into the front and rear fascias, and large 19-inch split-spoke wheels, the Shooting Brake Concept looks like it may not be far from production. While there was no official word from Audi, pre-show discussion has pegged this concept as the next TT.

The Volkswagen EcoRacer is a coupe, a roadster, and a speedster, all in one, with carbon-fiber bodywork, a sleek sports car design and a unique removable roof. When a door is opened, the roof panel above the door lifts up to create more room to enter the vehicle. For open-air driving, the roof panels can both be removed, as well as the center bar between the panels and the rear hatch to turn the coupe into a roadster. The entire windshield, including the frame, can be removed and a short racing wind deflector can be added to convert the EcoRacer into a speedster.

Powered by a new-generation 1.5-liter TDI engine that develops 136 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 184 ft-lb of torque between 1900 and 3750 rpm, the mid-engine EcoRacer is both economical and agile. The carbon-fiber bodywork contributing to a low weight of only 1874 pounds, the EcoRacer is a fuel sipper with average fuel consumption of 69 mpg, as well as performance with 0 to 62 mph in only 6.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

As Carlos Ghosn, President and Chief Executive Officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. put it, "if the Z was the symbol of Nissan's recovery, the GT-R will be seen as the icon for Nissan's indisputable, vibrant health." A thoroughly modern-looking version of the legendary GT-R, the GT-R Proto takes Nissan even closer to the eventual production model that will be launched in 2007—the first new GT-R in eight years.

While no performance or specification figures were released, power shouldn't be a problem if it matches the styling. Ghosn described it as "sheer muscle . . . and the promise of extreme excitement." While past GT-Rs have not been produced for the North American market, given the international cult-like following of this car by motoring enthusiasts, it's likely that this high-performance sports car will be available worldwide.

Called the MINI Concept Tokyo, the MINI was based on the MINI Traveller concept revealed in the Frankfurt Motor Show, but in a very different style. The outside was pearlescent white offset by bronze alloy wheels and bold lights.

But the car holds a secret over in the depths of its peppermint green and white interior. In the back, under the floor resides a complete set of bone china cups and saucers, a teapot, along with a table and stools. Opening a panel on the outside of the car reveals the ingredients, such as teabags and sugar—necessities required for a picnic.

The mid-mounted V10 engine that powers the Gallardo now produces 520 horsepower in the Spyder, and the 6-speed manual transmission adopts lower gear ratios for more dynamic performance. Boasting a top speed in excess of 190 mph with the top down, the newest Lamborghini provides a whole new level of wind in your hair. Weighing just 308 pounds more than the coupe, the new Spyder is still capable of reaching 62 mph in just 4.3 seconds.

The GG50 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro to celebrate his 50 years in industrial design. Based on the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, the GG50 retains the same impressive mechanics of the original car, including its 540-horsepower V12 engine. A bit shorter than the 612, the GG50 features a fastback tail rather than a trunk.

The GG50 concept is the only one of its kind and will not be put into production—nor is it for sale.

The Veyron marks the return of the Bugatti brand to production after the original company closed in 1956, following failed attempts to keep the company going after the death of Bugatti's founder, Ettore Bugatti in 1947.

The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a super sports car, powered by an 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine with quad turbos that produces 1001 horsepower :o :o :o :o and 922 lb-ft of torque, enough power to propel the Veyron to a top speed of over 250 mph. With a mid-engine design, the power is put to the ground through a permanent all-wheel-drive system.
