Open up Mixmag, DJ Times, URB, etc...it's porn for DJ whores and trainspotters. They'll mention a club only if it's legendary or happens to relate to the DJ.

Frankly, 90 percent of the time I'd rather read about the club since most DJ interviews read like templates.

URB is not a electronic music magazine..... its a magazine for people who are into indie rock / unknown piss poor hip hop filled with overpriced ads that happens to sprinkle just enough coverage of electronic music inside its pages to woo a uniformed audience into still thinking its a underground rave mag when in reality its a crappy version of The Source that features the Yeah Yeah Yeahs so it can get that corporate dollar to help it stay alive.....

Still, as it is I'd rather read about a club than listen to some guy spout off about which track from Kreblakistan he's currently playing. By the time he's in our clubs I'll be drunk and at the point of not caring.

There's only so much you can say about an artist. After that it becomes a virtual blowjob.

Twilo was scheduled to open this Spring however,

getting permits in Miami has taken longer than

expected. Secondly, NOONE has given a specific date

of opening yet and won't until it is time. As of now it

will be summer, as of now I'm told June. Also, as anyone

in Miami knows, any construction takes twice as long down

here than anywhere else. Miami moves at a snail's pace.

Resident Dj's will be Junior, Victor, Abel, and Peter on

Saturday nights.

miami dade has the strongest building code when it comes to construction in the whole country or at least from what i've had to deal with along w/ many out of state opinions...in terms of general contruction/building...they will get you for just about anything, unless you really know a high rank inspector that works for the municipality that you are building/pulling permits in

Um, did you guys do no research? Dozens of clubs opening in the past few years, ALL said "getting permits in Miami has taken longer than expected". Why did you think it would be different for you?

Again, something a little research would have told you.

It is no wonder Pod always notes that out-of-towners almost always do poorly in this town. Not to be mean, but you guys are not off to an auspicious start. And, I only say this to save you a lot of money later. As you have already noticed, Miami operates way differently than most cities. Knowledge you may think you have because you have made it in the big city of New York does not necessarily translate to doing well here. Seriously, you guys might want to learn a little more about your new town before making any more mistakes, it could really cost you.

I do wish you all the best, which is why I offer this little bit of advice.

Secondly, the comments regarding a delayed opening... It would be one thing to rag on someone who had given a specific date they'd open and didn't. In this case they said they'd open Spring 2006..Spring is March-May. They could have been counding on end of May...it got pushed back so it might be June some time. Not a huge difference and not worth "giving advice" about. What's 4-5 weeks? Honestly, they might do better to wait to open in October.

I'm sure they've done all the research they need to do.

In other words, keeping it at "Coming Soon" will suffice.

Also keeping the info releases to the "official" staff will help keep the rumors at a minimum.

Ah, from the info I had heard it was an out-of-town group that owned it.

I'm not ragging on anyone, though others might have been. If they open in July, I see little reason to fault them for a month or so. Though I am more of a perfectionist in business than that, many are not.

I agree that waiting until October might have been a little wiser. I did kind of wonder why they were opening up during summer. Maybe to give themselves some time to work out the kinks before the big crowds hit?

One of the biggest mistakes in clubland is to put a date on things too far in advance. "Coming Soon" suffices for the most part.

I agree with both of you. I think with the experience from NY and the experience from SoFla, this club will be done right. I've been told it won't be your typical Miami club...we'll see I guess.

I'm excited as I only went once to Twilo in NY. My memory of that event is a bit foggy. I do know they want to introduce new Dj's to the Saturday night events that you wouldn't normally associate with that crowd. I would love to know how much work has been done and what needs to be done. I with them both all the luck in the world.

i haven't been out in the scene in a while - since Victor at Coliseum... whats been going on in SoBe - who's got the good parties? btw, i love twist. hehe

Score has remodeled and created a bigger space. They now have some of the big dj's come in. This week was Tony Moran, last week was Manny, and before that was Abel. I think they're doing a great job. Fridays is also the Euphoria Fridays at Madiba lounge. Both are doing well. Score was packed last week. The club has an intimate feeling to it. Not so sure about the sound system.

And yes, there's Twist...Twist is still Twist.

Thursdays there's the lincoln ln block party. Tuesdays after martini night it's Score's latin night.

There's other stuff going on as well like the gay film festival, Aids Walk, Crobar's closing party Sunday night. It's still busy here. Actually difficult for me to keep up with all the stuff on my website.
