it was definitely depressing. gummo did serve one good purpose for me. after seeing it, i tricked a friend into renting and watching it on his own time after repeatedly telling him how great it was. man was he pissed.

---My vote goes to Starship Troopers. Walked outta that bitch after about 10 minutes. Which was 9 minutes too long. Yeh, Pitchblack sucked too. I did stay 'till the end on that one though. As far as Superman is concerned, I caught the tail end of an interview w/either the director or producer that said he made it more like a romance (ie:chic flic) than a full-on action. Waste IMO!!

Coach I watched Superman last night, and guy I have no idea what you are talking about.

Superman is a great movie, some of the dialouge was a bit cheesy, but all in all the movie was f'ing good.

The special effects were phenomenal, the story was good, & the acting was good. (Spacey played an excellent Luthor & the new Superman played the part perfectly)

IMHO I think Superman is better than any of the other sumer blockbusters. I liked it better than Pirates and X-Men.

The only flaw was that movie once again was a bit too long, but its worth watching on the silver screen.

No way man I loved Starship Troopers...... I liked how they made the whole motif of the movie as if it was a storyline from the 50's

Story??? There was a story? What was it about?

There wasn't any romance, no matter what the interview said, and there *certainly* wasn't anything that counted as action.

All the characters are complete loser boneheads except Olson and Lois' "boyfriend" (can't remember his name). And, actually, he's a pretty big bonehead for letting Lois string him along for so long. The canibal dog was cool, as was Lex's "partner" (??? WTF was she?).

But there were so many stupid parts in the movie, it was unbearable. For example, what was up with the old lady at the beginning? Did he just con her out of her money? If so, WHY and how? He's a zillionaire criminal. What does he need her paltry millions for?

He gave her "pleasures she could never imagine," again, WHEN and how? He was in jail the past few years and she was a zillion years old.

Then there was the whole stupid 20 minutes we spent wasting our time destroying a TOY train set!!! That scene shoulda been like 20 seconds.

Then, how about the fact that he created all this "land" and was going to keep it with his "advance alien technology," but we see them just sitting on it with his 3 goons playing cards. The US would have been there with F14s in no time and bitch-slapped him good. That was about the dumbest part of the movie, right there.

There was no good part in this movie. Every scene had some serious problems. Like the scene with the chain-gun. There HAD to have been some interesting dialogue there, yet nobody said anything, just ridiculous. The quote in my sig-line is from the guy who sat behind us. Some black-hispanic guy who was apparantly a Superman afficionado. He came out with that right after the shot, and the audience went wild. But, Superman just stood there like a slack-jawed drooling idiot rather than saying anything interesting (obviously, he wouldn't cuss, but he could have said *something*).

BTW, I loved Tankgirl. At least she was hot and kicked some ass. Even Tokyo Drift was better than Superman.

Hmm... I hadn't thought of it as a satire, but that could make sense. I loved the book, and the movie wasn't too bad. I mean, they could've used a bit more budget, but whatever.

starship troopers was cool, but part 2 i watched about 3 minutes of and it was too much. horrible! don't even waste your time contemplating watching the movie!

Alright let me just say this no movie with excessive nudity and sex can be ranked up there with the worst of all time...so even though Showgirls and Eyes Wide Shut were aweful...the borderline porn aspect of them saves them...now the worst movie....

For once I actually agree with Coach. Not that Superman Returns is the worst movie ever, but I didn't find it very entertaining. The movie was too long, and boring. I wasn't impressed with Kevin Spacey's performance, and Kate Bosworth was a terrible chocie for the role of Lois Lane. Brandon Routh did a good job as Superman but he couldn't carry the entire movie by himself.

And, again, anyone, HOW was Lex planning on protecting his new land, when apparantly all he had was 3 card-playing henchmen, one bimbo, and a canabalistic pomeranian? I mean, he was just HANGING out on the stupid island doing nothing.
