This is because if there is, say, a pickpocket, shopkeepers and bystanders will go OUT OF THEIR WAY to grab the thief and hold him until the cops arrive. Would that EVER happen here? Yeah right.Tourists go there from all over the world, it is especially popular with people that sail their boats around the Carribean.It is similar to Old San Juan, except in my opinion a notch better because:a. It is flat, whereas in Old San Juan you have to hump up and down a steep hill in the middle of town, and b.(at least last time I went), there are no "Ben and Jerry's", and other chain stores (even though B & J's is great, I just prefer not to see it in a place like Cartagena, that's all) like there are in Old S.J. Of course you'll have issues out in the hinterlands and in FARC territory, but in Cartagena? Hell no. If they kidnapped people in Cartagena, we'd have to probably take up collections to ransom a lot of our favorite DJs who play down there.
