Shit happens. People need to grow a backbone or retaliate. If Simon called me a bush baby, I'd take a bat to his knees. Instead of crying, you do something about it.

u wouldnt even be able to get 20 feet from him .... didnt u see when that hairdresser guy wanted to get near simon and fix his hair. 3 goons out of nowhere threw him out LMAOOOOOo

the criticism is the main reason i even watch. when "the good people come" the show gets less entertaining to me. but insulting something the person cant help on tv for a laugh crosses the line.

the bathtub comment was directed at her horrible singing, thats completely different.

American Idol has every right to insult those people any way they want to. Be it about their physical appearance, talent ot lack there of.

You have to have been living on Mars with no TV access for the past 5 years to not know what go's on during this show.

If you go on A.I to audition and get into that room with Randy, Paula and Simon you have go to know that you expose yourself to being hacked apart by them...

we already know how you feel since you said you thought it was the funniest part. that little guy and his round buddy were obviously mentally challenged. apparently that type of thing makes you laugh.

ive watched the opening weeks of the show pretty much every year. the bush baby comment was crossing the line.

I didn't catch this 'bush baby' comment. When did that happen?

I totally agree with John, I don't care what they signed up for no one should ever be criticized for something they have no control over. This is just showing all the bullies that its ok to make fun of people, you'll become famous.

People like Jackie Gleason didn't need to make fun of other people to make you laugh. He made fun of himself instead, a huge difference from today.

We live in a more cynical age, one that is entertained by people eating roaches, beating up on the homeless, trailer trash sleeping with cousins, and having sex in a church. Why is it our society feels it's ok to be entertained at the expense of others?

Because some people deserve to be made fun of if they bring it upon themselves.

There are some people who go on American Idol for example with huge egos thinking they are the next American Idol and have no talent to back up their trash talking.

People who act like that deserve more scrutiny than some others.

Simon criticizes people in ways that all of us criticize people on TV who ever it may be. You have to be all lying to yourselves if you say that you don't criticize people on TV the way Simon does on American Idol.

Face it! That's the entertainment business. You could be the ugliest, least talented person on Earth or you can be the most talented, beautiful person on Earth.

No matter who you are, if you put yourself out there to perform, someone is going ot make fun of the way you act, look, carry yourself on stage etc.

Simon just says what most people would say at home, when people watch TV with friends and family and make fun of people within their closed doors..

We do live in a more cynical age....perhaps, but back then maybe things were just as bad it just wasn't shown on television. Now you can hear four-letter words on cable, and pretty much soft porn, brutal murders, and drug overdoses....If these people allow themselves to be berated on t.v. for money than so be it.....it seems our world is more money hungry than anything else and they will do anything they possibly can just to make a buck and be seen on television.

exactly....people in the entertainment industry always get criticized, that is just the way it is.....they are lucky they have someone to tell them straight up that they shouldn't be doing this. Would you rather see them go through life living a lie. Their families should have told them this before they even tried out!!! I mean.....geeze if you can't rely on your friends and family to be honest to you....

normally i would totally agree with you, but i am not talking about those people. that kid who had his face mocked was not normal. he did not talk normal, and he did not look normal. he had mental disability issues. if you think that is acceptable humor, its a truly sad state of affairs.

so first simon mocks his face, and then the producers mock him and his buddy by forcing them to talk to seacrest and then by showing them walking down the street with their arms wrapped around each other. it was borderline exploitation and done in bad taste.

Exactly.

One guy on A.I Seattle (kid with a white shirt and tie with funky teeth) said that his audition was a serious reality check for him.

That's a good thing.

The hardest thing for people to deal with is criticism in anyway. You can either take that criticism and dwell on it and do nothing or you can take it and make some positive changes...

so how does the lemur AKA bush baby make some positive changes based on his "criticism"? plastic surgery and a lobotomy?
