MAGDA BIO:

Coming into the mix under the encouragement and instruction of Dan Bell and Claude Young, Magda began djing in 1996 working her way through the underground party circuit, via promoters, such as: Syst3m, and joining the all female dj collective: Women on Wax, it was only a short while before she began appearing regularly at Detroit area events and clubs.

1999 saw Magda's initial forays into techno, electro and house evolve. Her dj sets were becoming increasingly minimal and the records in her box reflected a love of weird, challenging music. Invited by Richie Hawtin to open for him at his millennium celebration: Epok, Magda was entering a new phase in her career.

In the time since, Magda has expanded her work with Hawtin, becoming his sole choice to open many of his recent Detroit and international events, including: Jak DEMF weekend :[2001], Control. labor day weekend: [2001], as well as earning an envious position on the line up of "From Our Minds To Yours" the Plus 8 ten year anniversary party.

The next few months will see Magda going on her third european tour alongside Richie Hawtin and making the jump from dj to producer, releasing music under the moniker: Run/Stop Restore on the Minus label.

TROY PIERCE BIO:

After being raised in the cornfields of Indiana and brought up on Midwest house & techno (Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Derrick Carter, D-Wynn), Troy became a bit jaded by ten years in New York where the struggling minimal techno scene consisted of a handful of die-hard fanatics going against the diva-tribal-teck-house of a city that has seen it’s day musically.

Berlin seemed like the logical solution, go to the source.

As 1/3 of RUN STOP RESTORE (along with fellow Berliner Magda and Canadian Marc Houle) their first release “The Geometry E.P.†(Minus #20) as well as their contribution to the Post Office # 2 (Telegraph) compilation have both been well received.

After relocating to Berlin, the pieces are falling into place, playing BEATSTREET (the after-hours spot in Berlin), EGG and THE END in London. An exclusive live p.a. at VOLUME in New York for Minus as well as up-coming

Minus European tour with Magda and Richie Hawtin slated to begin end of September.

KATE SIMKO BIO:

Chicago-based Kate Simko is a classical pianist turned left field house and techno producer. Releasing music on labels such as Spectral Sound, Kupei Musika and Traum, Kate draws from a wide range of influences, combining her sense of melody and structure with her background in Chicago house and Detroit techno. Whether playing live or DJ’ing, Kate’s musical selection maintains a warm, soulful character, full of funky bass lines and loose rhythms.

Growing up studying piano and music theory, Kate discovered underground dance music during her teens and began DJ’ing on college radio in the late 90's. At this time, Kate made a switch from a degree in classical piano to electronic music composition. In 2001, Kate moved to Santiago, Chile, where she continued her studies in music composition and met Andres Bucci. Bucci and Simko combined forces and have since recorded two full-length records together as Detalles (Traum , Kupei Musika).

A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. Her music has received positive remarks in zines such as The Wire, XLR8R, de:Bug, Mixmag, URB, BPM and Remix and her Detalles project was named one of the 'Next 100' artists by URB magazine. Kate has performed at festivals such as Mutek (Montreal and Chile), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Worldtronics (Berlin), and has played beside a myriad of genre defining artists throughout the United States, Europe and South America.

Back in her hometown of Chicago, Kate is honing her talents, producing and performing full time. Kate is continually evolving as an artist, combining her wide range of influences into her own music, creating a unique personal sound that crosses genre borders, blending rich textures, melodies and intricate programming with funky bass and groove.
