The Chicago Crew takes on NYC

I felt a new thread would be a great idea to post all of our ideas... Airfare, Hotels, Clubs, etc.

There's a cool E-fare service provided by Smarterliving.com. Every Wenesday they will mail you flight prices from 20 different airlines from your departure city to anywhere in the US.

The fare is only valid for the upcomming weekend and you must make your purchase by Friday. With this, you can leave anytime after 7pm on Friday or all day on Saturday. The only stip is that your return must be on Monday.

-However, you can catch the 6AM outta NYC and you'll be back in Chicago by 7:30AM. I've done this a few times and just wore my work clothes on my return flight.

Prices are anywhere from $139-$159. United, AA, Continental...

Just an idea...!

Wild! You read my mind. Actually, my pals and I will have a huge article out on OS Magazine around June 1. We spent 10 days in NYC and saw a lot of it. We'll let you know what's going on there.

As for airfares, those are good prices. I went United for around $200, but I booked them several months in advance. As for hotel, let me put it this way...

if you know anyone you can crash with, CRASH WITH THEM!!!!

I shopped and shopped for hotels. All I really need is a bed and a shower. Most of the places want mega money for a room. The Day's Hotel on 8th Avenue gave a sweet deal, but there was always a price. I spent the week sleeping on an air mattress while my two buddies had the beds, so it was 3 guys cramped into a little room. There was a mouse running around the hotel, and the staff almost messed up our rate. Like I said, every lost cost has a price, so stay with friends if you have any over there.

Getting around NYC is great, because they have LOADS of subway trains that can take you ANYWHERE. Brooklyn, Coney, Times Square, The Intrepid, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park (what a walk!)

Clubbing is the big deal in NYC, and the covers are high, high, HIGH! It's $30 to get into Sound Factory or Twilo, and the only help is a $5 off guest list . You can got on Sound Factory's guest list at http://www.soundfactorynyc.com. For Twilo, head over to Satellite Records in the Bowery. They have a clipboard near the checkout where you can sign on their list. Other cool clubs to see woulf be Vinyl, Exit, and even Centro-Fly.

That's only a little bit. I'll let you all know when I have the full article up!

Yes, that is roundtrip. That's probabally the best deal available to the public. It is a good price. And I have never seen it top $179.

Sounds like we have a trip to plan. I also have a place we may be able to crash in NYC. I say we wait until after this rainy season crap is over so we can actually see the city during the day and not get soaked. maybe July or something.

Hotels:

Chelsea Savoy- $100-$115 for two people. Continental breakfast included. http://www.chelseasavoy.qpg.com

Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca- $119-$149 for two to four people. http://www.cosmohotel.com/

Gershwin Hotel (Gramercy)- See website for prices. http://www.gershwinhotel.com

Hotel Edison (Midtown)- $130-$175 for one to four people. http://www.edisonhotelnyc.com

Hotel Newton (95th U.W.S.) - $100-$140 http://www.newyorkhotel.com

The above rooms and rates are with a private bath.

These hotels are very cool boutique hotels with funky furniture and feature local artwork from area residents.

July sounds great. The weather, esp today's has to go! Looking out my office window it appears as though the world is comming to an end!

Oh, if you have a place to crash, that would kick!

May be worth holding out for Twilo to re-open, it's worth a look.

Remember most of the best night in NY are on a Friday so if your going for thr clubbing try get there early Friday.

If anyone is interested American Airlines is having a special roundtrip to La Guarida NEXT weekend leaving June 1 or 2 for $159. And Boston for $169. To purchase, go to http://www.aa.com then click on Current Web Fare Specials and Net SAAver Fares.

There's just one catch though, you have to return on a Monday. Other than that it's a pretty good deal.

I'll be there for Creamfields also..

but with Twilo closed, we're gonna wait and find out where all the talent winds up playing before planning a trip in between.

I wanted to head up there July 4th weekend but there's been no word on who's playing where.. (other than DT).

Check it out...

Hey bro, Glad you found your way into this new addiction. And I'm looking forward to the Chicago infusion in NYC. We got alot going on in this city, but they could def use a little Chicago style in the mix.

How come you didnt mention you were headed out for Creamfields? And dont worry so much that Twilo is closed, I know some one will pick up the slack.
