sosultan
The man was scheduled to spin from 1 to 3 at DC's Nation. Having read the reviews on his NY performance, I knew what to expect from his set. To my surprise, it appears he played EXACTLY the same set he played at NY, he threw PVD's tilt, lots of old classic mellow shit, one female vocal towards the end, and his closing track was "Follow Me". He had a couple of tearing up buildups, but mostly he stuck to his fantasy-lullaby style. The crowd totally digged him, I've never seen such a vibe at nation before. Anyway, I agree with peeps that a 2 hour set is a joke, i just started getting into his vibe when he threw his last closing out track. Overall, i had a great time despite his overused track selection, it was well worth $26.p.s. You also gotta remember that PVD spins a lot of old tunes as well, it seems to be the going trend for some top djs nowdays...------------------"fall in love with music, fall in love with dance"
sxs
Down visiting from NYC and decided to check out the Oakie show at Nation. First question - Who let all of the school kids out? Man o' man, I felt like I was at a prom. Ok...I'm exaggerating. The track selection was tired and preprogrammed (he coulda phoned it in..or set up a napster playlist), but music was good. The set was def. too short. The vibe was weird, I'm used to a little older crowd. Oh, and there was an "Electric Boogaloo" dance circle going for a bit which involved some break dancing - argh! It's about the love of music not competition. All in all - it was fun, but a little too short.------------------~PEACE & LOVE~[This message has been edited by sxs (edited 11-27-2000).]
brunyo
Damn, New Skool! Wish we had some more like you around D.C. People around here don't know what you're talking about. They got to get with the vibe. Know what you're saying. Never danced in NY, where you're from, but I know DC is lackin'. It's not about competition. Whoever is on that vibe, learn where the vibe is coming from. Dancing is fun you fools. It's a state of mind. PEACE to all who get that, and if you don't, stop running from what you fear. Learn to show respect to those who have something to teach you. PEACE to all who dance, and know how to show love to the worldPEACE
