mcchase
I also went to Centro-Fly NYE. The line only took like 10 minutes at like 1am. Got right in for free and had a drink. Met this nice girl who took my friend and i back to the dj booth where we got to hang out for the rest of the night. Met the dj's, lighting crew, the owner of the club and some of their friends. Everyone was very friendly. The music was awesome....Some really great british house. The owner was very down to earth and seemed genuinely happy to throw this free event to "give back to club scene of new york". It's good to see that there is finally a place where the priority is to have a great club with great music rather than trying to get every cent out of all the guests. I think Centro-fly deserves something for not charging $100+ per person on a night where they could have made a killing.
Guest danwang
I was there from a little before 2 to a little after 4 am. My friend and I almost didn't get in for free - some guy was the inside entrance telling us that we either had to be escorted in or show a ticket (costing $30 each). Luckily a girl working at the door was cool and let us in.There was quite a good vibe, with mostly funky house tunes playing while I was there. It's too bad that in the club I was starting to feel the effects of lack of sleep, and even sat down and nodded off a few times. The previous night, I went to the Tunnel and calling an early night, got back at 3 am... then on NYE, woke up at 8 am, arrived at Times Square at 9:30 am, and waited there for the ball-drop. I guess it paid off with a pretty good spot at 44th St. It's too bad that most of the camera close-ups happened on the other side of Broadway. I later saw a rebroadcast of MTV's NYE show and a recording of NY1's coverage, and I think they both got a couple shots of the top of my head. My spot was in front (well, more like at a corner) of the MTV building, but I didn't see any of the performances near the windows that they showed on TV. The outdoor stage where the VJ's did their thing was also nearby, but I couldn't hear what they were saying.
allynewrench
i went to centro-fly also.i'm visiting from san francisco, and it was cool to see that most people were dancing and not just floored, and the security were cool and not ego-maniac jerks.for the most part, the crowd was pretty friendly, except for a few with attitudes (but that's something i expect from nyc, no offense)
