Find a good school with reputable program (SVA, Pratt, FIT). You can take continuing ed classes (they're cheaper). You will get an excellent foundation in design aspect. color, typography. Then apply what you learned and practice, practice, practice. School def taught me what I needed to start, but just getting on the computer and using the applications, try to do what ever you want on them, familiarize yourself with the programs. Learn it's every function and it's limitations.
