IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT SUNDAZE II - Labor Day Weekend

Well, we’ve got good news and we have bad news. The good news is that Sundaze II IS going to happen. The bad news is, it’s not gonna be on the island.

Last Friday we received a call from the people who run Thomson Island telling us that they were concerned about the size of the crowd Sundaze II was going to attract and they were afraid that the island could not handle it. After going into great detail to explain the steps that RJP-Events and 6one7 took to insure that safety was our #1 concern, the people who represent the island decided to pull out of the event even though they signed a contract with us. I guess having a team of over 60 security people, 10 police details, several EMT’s, and a 90,000 square foot fence around the area was not enough to convince them. Both RJP-Events and 6one7 have spent an enormous amount of time and money planning this event and promoting this event and to have this happen without any notice was quite shocking and very upsetting to all of us. That was until we found the new venue.

As soon as we heard about the island pulling out we immediately started looking for other venues. We had nightclubs that were interested but that would take out a big piece of the production out of the event. So, we had a great meeting on Friday afternoon and have locked in the new venue for Sundaze II

THE TSONGAS ARENA in Lowell, MA

Let me tell you when we pulled down the street and saw the outside of the venue we almost fell down. The place is absolutely beautiful. It’s a miniature version of the Fleet Center. It’s a brand new arena that has been open for only 2 years. There is parking for over 2000 cars. The venue inside holds 8500 people. The place is so clean it’s scary. As you walk through the glass doors you enter the box office where tickets will be on sale during the event. You walk up a flight of stairs then BOOM, your in this massive space. The stage is gonna be set up where center ice would be for hockey games. We have a 25 foot high stage with the same lighting and sound design we had for the island (this will be the sickest thing you have ever seen). The main arena holds about 6500 people. The Underground Arena is outdoors and holds over 2000 people and is right on the Merrimack River. There is going to be Huge VIP area with full bar, food, and DJ’s spinning all day. There is plenty of chill out space in and out of the arena. A full bar and concessions will be open all day.

Basically, if we saw this venue before coming up with the island concept then we would have been here in the first place. Because of the change in venue, the ticket prices have dropped as well. Advance tickets will be $30 and tickets bought after August 19th and at the door the day of the event will be $35. If you have already purchased tickets at Strawberries please contact us immediately at rjp_events@hotmail.com and we will refund the difference in price to you immediately.

The entire DJ lineup will not change. We will be announcing our main headliner this week. All the DJ’s will be contacted by us and be kept up on the situation. We are in the process of designing the NEW flyers for Sundaze II and they will be out next week.

I know everyone is gonna be disappointed about the island, believe me NO ONE was more upset then us. This was gonna be a first to hit Boston. We don’t know why all of a sudden they got nervous about the event but honestly we don’t care anymore. The legal stuff is going to take care of all that and we are now devoting 110% of our time, money, and effort to put on the most incredible show any of you have ever seen. When you see the new venue I think you will agree that we made the right decision.

Vendors, this is a PERFECT venue for you to set up shop. Please contact rjp_events@hotmail.com if your interested and for those vendors already signed up your contracts will remain the same. Also, 6one7 is still looking for more people to join their street teams so email contact6one7@onebox.com.

Even more good news is that we now have a major corporate sponsor. Monster.com will be the official corporate sponsor of Sundaze II.

So here is the review:
