what dj wants to deal with people, who could give a sh*t, about what their playing. not to mention clueless, controlling, and ignorant club owners. not a very accommodating environment ;I'd say. with twilo closed, miami should be benefiting. instead we are struggling.. gee I wonder why?? sorry to rant, but I';m becoming quite disillusioned with our scene .

I'll tell you what... from what I saw when I was in TX, not to long ago, they've got a pretty decent scene over there. They've had Burridge, J. Papp, Pappa, and Sander to name a few. I'm talking about Austin, of course. None of that VIP bullshit either. Jeans and sneakers are OK!!!! The people are super friendly and everyone is WAY DOWN TO EARTH! Almost hippie-like. :beatnik: And they stay open until . . .? Get the picture? Wouldn't you keep going back? If I had my career going, and my financial security in the bag I would definately move to Austin. Wouldn't even think twice about it.

Austin is considered Texas' party town not Houston. everything is on in Austin as opposed to Houston which I went too alittle over a year and a half ago and it's MAD, MAD WEAK!! ... The city is horrible! it's ugly, nothing but sludge factories, chemical factories, steer's and queer's. I just don't picture either Burridge or Kleinenberg spinning in Houston and not here in Miami ... Austin is kewl, but's it's Houston we're talkin bout I reckon! :D

Danny, it's like driving from West Palm Beach to Kendall. Last time I stayed in Austin I flew into Houston b/c it was cheaper and just drove to Austin (a 2.5 hr drive). Also, all the clubbers in San Antonio party at the Austin clubs. Trust me, if Sander plays in Houston he'll have an audience. A REAL audience. BTW, Chris was born in Houston and lived there for a while and he is not a queer nor has he ever wrestled steers.

face it guys, the honest to god truth is that your scene is weak in that sort of music category.

it's been weak here too. we have talent coming in on a weekly basis but the clubs they play on have a sound system that leaves a lot to desire for.

We're in severe starvation over here and it's seems none of the club's are going to step up to the plate and bring in talent on a consistent basis. I don't like having to wait a month before I get an opportunity to listen to somebody I might consider. It's very disheartening, after DT what's really to look foward too? I havent read nor have I heard of anything :(

there are so many international dj’s, out on the road now. who is going to step up to the plate? . has one venue successfully, managed to piss off, the international dj community; with their heavy handed direction? has the miami dance community, become so complacent; that they are willing to accept regurgitated music, as the best they can do ? I see the Miami dance music scene, eroding more, and more each day .is there light at the end of the tunnel ?? are we just in a funk ?

from an insiders perspective, you should place a great deal of blame on the clubs and their owners. the promoters in town constantly get the run around. fact is, most of the clubs in miami are too fucking cheap to book any talent. it cuts into their profits. plus the fact that so many of the dj's you guys want to see are balance dj's. in each major market, balance has a history of working w/ only 1 promoter. in our case there are 2 promoters who regularly book balance talent. one of them has been focusing on their new label and throws events on special occassions, and the other seems to bounce around venues. in a case such as houston, balance dj's play at primarily 1 club, and that club seems to book primarily balance talent. in miami that does not happen. balance dj's play at crobar, space, shadow and occasionally at other smaller venues. in my opinion this fragments the working relationship w/ the clubs, and by the time a tour has been shopped around various venues in miami, it's possible another city has taken up the date. but that is just speculation on my part. another factor to take in is the fact that we're not in season right now, and all these tours are coming through cities that are in season. it will pick up in a few months. i promise!

speaking of balance, lee burridge, will be in orlando on nov 9th i believe.

a little bird told me that dave seaman is playing in oct. if you look closely, there are some open dates there that he might fit into. hope that bird was correct. another interesting seaman tidbit... bliss always throws a HUGE thanksgiving party the wed of thanksgiving eve. and looky there, looks like dave seaman is going to be in north america that week too. just speculation, but the history of bliss and dave seaman goes a LONG way back! plus dave's doing a GU in the future. possibly miami?? could be....
