Did N E 1 Pass By SF Last Night?

Recommended Posts

It's just too bad that SF was panning on staying open and charging $30 dollars a head on friday and saturday, until someone on one of the boards said something, so they decided to close...

And to make it worst, they weren't planning on giving any of the money they made that night to any charity what so ever!!!!!

You obviously dont know what you are talking about. Dont start spreading rumors when you dont know if they are true or not. And unless Mayor Guliani posts on these boards, no member of clubplanet or any other board had any effect on SF closing its doors.

On Thursday Guliani suspended liquor liscences of most major clubs in New York. He asked these clubs to not open their doors for business, not only in respect for the tragedy on Tuesday, but also to reduce the traffic on the roads for rescue vehicles, police, and ambulances.

There was a meeting at Factory on Thursday, only because no one could get into the city and sooner. While the weekend's party was being planned, SF received news of what Guliani had done. It was planned that admission would be $20 and half would go to the Red Cross. No comps, no reduces. SO all this talk about charging $30 and not donating any of it is total bullshit. It amazes me that assholes have nothing better to do than spread negative rumors about a club that is doing something positive.

Speaking of spreading rumors when you don't know if they are true or not... Giuliani does not have the authority to suspend liquor licenses, that power lies with the State Liquor Authority. Secondly, that is not an overnight process, nor can it be done temporarily, without just cause, or for "most major clubs." With that ludicrous pap out of the way, let's move on to the next subject, whether or not Factory was planning on being open...

In an email sent out on Wednesday, 12.September (1 pm-ish):

Due to recent events

effecting our city and country,

Soundfactory has decided

to postpone our S&M party;

originally scheduled for Sept 15, 2001.

(as of now the party will be on Sept 29th, 2001)

The club will be opened on both

Friday and Saturday nights

for its regular weekend parties,

and will provide a place

for all of us to come together as one.

Thank you,

Soundfactory management

for more club info you can call us @ 212-489-0001

Thursday afternoon came with this follow-up (3 pm-ish):

SF WILL BE TAKING $10 OFF OF EVERYONE'S ADMISSION AND IT WILL BE DONATED.

Friday afternoon was met with this revelation (11 am-ish):

Sound Factory is Closed for weekend of September 15th

Please call: 212 489 0001 for confirmation.

From people who spoke with Richard Grant - meaning straight from the horse's ass, not sugar coated yet - the S&M party was postponed because "I don't think enough people will show." The reduced admission and generic "will be donated" was not only an afterhtought, but a slap in the face of everyone who was putting forth selfless effort on behalf of those who were in need. The even more belated closing added insult to injury when SF tried to make it seem somehow noble of them.

It was also noted that a thread on another board was read by Grant, and something written there had an influence on that decision.

So, it seems, the only person conjuring rumors would be the one blindly championing what could only perversely be called a "cause."

After all the money SF makes in one night alone between entrance fees and liquor, you'd THINK they'd donate more then $10. It seems like nothing for a club of their merit.

And they *ARE* only doing it because of bad mouThing by people against the club. It disgusts me!

~misskittie~ and to think i was gonna hit the s&m party
