pod
I went out Saturday night, and I must say there is a noted effect on the beach, but the clubs were still packed, at least crobar and opium were...the mood was muted for sure, but everyone was definitely trying to escape from the harsh reality for a bit...BTW, is the Deep Dish set still on next Saturday? I'm game to go to that for sure, if anyone else is...
joeygk
I had some friends who were in DC this weekend for job interviews and were lucky enough to catch DeepDish during a chairty set @Buzz........they said it was a tight show. patrickl
I am actually in more of a mood to go out than I have been any time within the past year! I don't know, I just can't stand sitting here and looking at the TV anymore, I am trying to avoid it all, other than getting the day to day news snippets. I wan clubbing, I want football back........damn it sitting around and feeling sorry for ourselves ISN'T helping.
pod
The best thing us as American citizens can do is get back to normal. If we sit around in shock too long, the terrorists will accomplish their mission to bring the US down. We can grieve, yes it is necessary, but we need to get back to normal. Sure, I took a bit of a break from shooting and what not, but tomorrow I'll be back in the saddle at Back Door Bamby...So I tell everyone: Go out, go to crobar, go to Opium, go to Level, go to Space (well...), eat at Taco Bell, eat at McDonalds, rent a movie, go see a movie, buy clothes, buy CDs, buy vinyl, take a trip, we need to resume our normal lives if anything to show we can get knocked down and get back up again. Nolimit
i don't know anyone that went out this weekend up here. i stayed in and just chilled. most of the clubs were closed any way. hell, even tenaglia cancelled his trip to the uk and ibiza because of what happened. i can understand about moving on with your lives but in nyc, it hasn't settled in yet. people are still looking for their loved ones. very sad indeed...there's a girl named casey cho (blueangel) who is still missing. everyone on the nyc board have been doing everything they can to find her. my prayers are with her. so u can see why clubbing would be the last thing on everyone's mind up here. Were you still in ibiza when that happened? So sad... i left NY last monday and it was terrible to wake up the day after with those news. I even stayed at the marriott at wtc a few weeks ago. I talked to some friends in NY and they are all okay. Some people were going to Ibiza to see DT. Danny has cancelled everything and I don't think anybody is going now even though some of them had paid for everything. I have to go to Milan next week for business and I was making plans to spend the w/e in ibiza, but now... I guess I'll just go and spend some time with my family.well... hope you had a great time in Ibiza anyway!
panchodeejay
(from another message board)i have cancelled my trip to the UK/Ibiza Dear friends, Due to many obvious reasons, I have decided that as of last night, I am certain that I will NOT be leaving NYC on Tuesday evening to go overseas. (That's even if we were able to leave NYC considering with all of the flight delays, departures, arrivals, etc.) I was scheduled to play in the North of London on Wednesday night at "Sanky Soaps" (which I hear is a phenomenal party), and also on Friday with Lawler at another venue in London. Then I was scheduled to leave London on Saturday to get to Ibiza to play the Closing Party of "We Love Sunday's at Space", and believe me. as hard ad it was of a decision to make, I felt it's best I stay here in New York at this time. I know there are many people who have saved up to travel with us to Ibiza, especially for this closing party of the season event, and I'm even guessing some of them may also have decided to cancel going themselves as well, or might not have been able to even get there again due to the Airport drama's or other reasons, hopefully not sad ones either. I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about being in an airplane at this time (who wouldn't?). Also, I still am not feeling much up to playing music and being at parties as the entire world is in mourning. I guess being here in NYC really makes that much more of an impact seeing the smoke, the different skyline and fighter jets circling my home to protect President Bush while he was in town first hand with my own eyes. Last but not least, I also would NOT want to be stuck in another country not being able to get back to New York as scheduled, or if God forbid there were more attacks, or even worse, an actual war here. :0 So, I hope everyone understands my position and will please spread the word for me if you know of anyone in Ibiza or in the UK that may have been wondering if I was actually going to appear there or not. Depending on the situation in NY next Friday, "IF" we can open the doors to Vinyl, ours plans are to still have DJ's Rich Woods and Mac play as scheduled, and I will do a late after hours set, as I still would like the both of them to have a good amount of hours to do "thier thing". God Bless America & our entire planet! dt

dieg0
I guess everyone dealt with last week's events differently... I for one never thought they would affect me as much as they did. I guess the images on the news 24/7 didn't help out much and it wasn't until this Sunday that I was finally in the mood to get out. Yes, the beach was pretty deserted. I guess many people felt the same way.
pod
Opium, thanks to wise moves from promoters, is shedding the hip hop element You've got DJ Hana there a lot now, as well as Lee Cakebread (ducks to avoid being bludgeoned)..
