I have:

squint your eyes and look closer

i'm not between you and your ambition

i am a poster girl with no poster

i am thirty-two flavors and then some

and i'm beyond your peripheral vision

so you might want to turn your head

cause someday you're going to get hungry

and eat most of the words you just said

both my parents taught me about good will

and i have done well by their names

just the kindness i've lavished on strangers

is more than i can explain

still there's many who've turned out their porch lights

just so i would think they were not home

and hid in the dark of their windows

til i'd passed and left them alone

and god help you if you are an ugly girl

course too pretty is also your doom

cause everyone harbors a secret hatred

for the prettiest girl in the room

and god help you if you are a pheonix

and you dare to rise up from the ash

a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy

while you are just flying back

i'm not trying to give my life meaning

by demeaning you

and i would like to state for the record

i did everything that i could do

i'm not saying that i'm a saint

i just don't want to live that way

no, i will never be a saint

but i will always say

squint your eyes and look closer

i'm not between you and your ambition

i am a poster girl with no poster

i am thirty-two flavors and then some

and i'm beyond your peripheral vision

so you might want to turn your head

cause someday you might find you're starving

and eating all of the words you said

Spring sweet rhythm dance in my head

Slip into my lover's hands

Kiss me oh won't you kiss me now

And sleep I would inside your mouth

Don't be us too shy

Knowing it's no big surprise

That I will wait for you

I will wait for no one but you

Look please lover lay down

Spend this time with me

Together share this smile

Lover lay down

Walk with me, walk with you

Hold my hand your hands

So much we have dreamed

And you were so much younger

Hard to explain that we are stronger

A million reasons life to deny

Let's toss them away

See you and me we

Lay down look see

She and he

By my lover's side

Together share this smile

Each other's tears to cry

Together share this smile

Lover lay down

Oh please

Look please lover lay down

Oh please lover lay down

And you weep

Lover lay down

Cause it's over

Lover lay down

Say lover, say lover, say lover, say lover, say lover

Could I love you

Could you love me (4x)

Darling it's

All the same (4x)

'Til we dance away (4x)

Chasing me all around

Leading me all around

Leading me all around in circles (2x)

Say...

Ode to the Book

When I close a book

I open life.

I hear

faltering cries

among harbours.

Copper ignots

slide down sand-pits

to Tocopilla.

Night time.

Among the islands

our ocean

throbs with fish,

touches the feet, the thighs,

the chalk ribs

of my country.

The whole of night

clings to its shores, by dawn

it wakes up singing

as if it had excited a guitar.

The ocean's surge is calling.

The wind

calls me

and Rodriguez calls,

and Jose Antonio--

I got a telegram

from the "Mine" Union

and the one I love

(whose name I won't let out)

expects me in Bucalemu.

No book has been able

to wrap me in paper,

to fill me up

with typography,

with heavenly imprints

or was ever able

to bind my eyes,

I come out of books to people orchards

with the hoarse family of my song,

to work the burning metals

or to eat smoked beef

by mountain firesides.

I love adventurous

books,

books of forest or snow,

depth or sky

but hate

the spider book

in which thought

has laid poisonous wires

to trap the juvenile

and circling fly.

Book, let me go.

I won't go clothed

in volumes,

I don't come out

of collected works,

my poems

have not eaten poems--

they devour

exciting happenings,

feed on rough weather,

and dig their food

out of earth and men.

I'm on my way

with dust in my shoes

free of mythology:

send books back to their shelves,

I'm going down into the streets.

I learned about life

from life itself,

love I learned in a single kiss

and could teach no one anything

except that I have lived

with something in common among men,

when fighting with them,

when saying all their say in my song.

A Song of Despair

The memory of you emerges from the night around me.

The river mingles its stubborn lament with the sea.

Deserted like the dwarves at dawn.

It is the hour of departure, oh deserted one!

Cold flower heads are raining over my heart.

Oh pit of debris, fierce cave of the shipwrecked.

In you the wars and the flights accumulated.

From you the wings of the song birds rose.

You swallowed everything, like distance.

Like the sea, like time. In you everything sank!

It was the happy hour of assault and the kiss.

The hour of the spell that blazed like a lighthouse.

Pilot's dread, fury of blind driver,

turbulent drunkenness of love, in you everything sank!

In the childhood of mist my soul, winged and wounded.

Lost discoverer, in you everything sank!

You girdled sorrow, you clung to desire,

sadness stunned you, in you everything sank!

I made the wall of shadow draw back,

beyond desire and act, I walked on.

Oh flesh, my own flesh, woman whom I loved and lost,

I summon you in the moist hour, I raise my song to you.

Like a jar you housed infinite tenderness.

and the infinite oblivion shattered you like a jar.

There was the black solitude of the islands,

and there, woman of love, your arms took me in.

There was thirst and hunger, and you were the fruit.

There were grief and ruins, and you were the miracle.

Ah woman, I do not know how you could contain me

in the earth of your soul, in the cross of your arms!

How terrible and brief my desire was to you!

How difficult and drunken, how tensed and avid.

Cemetery of kisses, there is still fire in your tombs,

still the fruited boughs burn, pecked at by birds.

Oh the bitten mouth, oh the kissed limbs,

oh the hungering teeth, oh the entwined bodies.

Oh the mad coupling of hope and force

in which we merged and despaired.

And the tenderness, light as water and as flour.

And the word scarcely begun on the lips.

This was my destiny and in it was my voyage of my longing,

and in it my longing fell, in you everything sank!

Oh pit of debris, everything fell into you,

what sorrow did you not express, in what sorrow are you not

drowned!

From billow to billow you still called and sang.

Standing like a sailor in the prow of a vessel.

You still flowered in songs, you still brike the currents.

Oh pit of debris, open and bitter well.

Pale blind diver, luckless slinger,

lost discoverer, in you everything sank!

It is the hour of departure, the hard cold hour

which the night fastens to all the timetables.

The rustling belt of the sea girdles the shore.

Cold stars heave up, black birds migrate.

Deserted like the wharves at dawn.

Only tremulous shadow twists in my hands.

Oh farther than everything. Oh farther than everything.

It is the hour of departure. Oh abandoned one!

Yes...but I let her go...

Eyes that wake to darkness

Torn from the mind

Pulled from the waking dream

How they ache to remember

How they woe to forget

Throb with the present

and tear from the past

See and believe the unconcieveable

Look the other way

Close them tight

For tears of blood

shall wash the world away

Open them in anew perspective

Behold the beauty

Let them gleem with rebirth

New eyes for a new beginning

Till the time comes again

For them to fall heavy with sleep

:flame:

The Moon rising in the night

Herald by the nightingale’s flight

Liquid beauty in the sky

Choosing the perfect place to lie

An opiate vapor, dewy dim

Exhales from out her golden rim

And softly dripping drop by drop

Upon the quiet mountain top

In its light the roses bathe

And the lily lolls upon the wave

And wrap you in love about your breast

Lay you down to gain your rest

Upon the carpet white and pink

Does your body begin to sink

Stargazer flowers all abound

That stir within the silent sound

Of the breeze that blows from off

And carries our souls entwined aloft

Into the sky where they glow

And cast their light on us below

Lying there on fairy flowers

Do we invoke loves greatest powers

And drinking from that magic potion

Do we slide and twine in motion

For ours is love so pure and right

It seems to carry through the night

And reach the hearts and minds of those

Who speak in verses and in prose

And taking up their quill and scroll

About our love do they extol

And immortal shall our love become

Even when we have just begun

To truly understand our fate

And joy in finding our soul mate

And rejoice there among the flowers

As we lose track of all the hours

And holding you I speak so soft and low

Your lovers voice tonight shall flow

And falling asleep your mind shall deem

My words the music of a dream

Our hearts, our souls that dance above

In all we do shall mingle...love

Ummm....dont know if anyone will like this poem, but if you do...thanks. I wrote it for my girl, and she seemed to like it so...well, ya know.

Imagine your brain as a

canister filled with ink

yeah, now think of your body

as the pen where the ink resides

Fuse the two; KAPOW!

What are you now?

You're the human magic marker, won't you

please surprise my eyes?

It's in your nature,

you can paint whatever picture

you like no matter what

Ted Koppel says on channel 4 tonight

So modify this third rock from the sun

by painting myriads of pictures

with the colors of one

I'm sick of painting in black and white

my pen is dry, now I'm uptight

So sick of limiting myself

to fit your definition

Picture the scene, where whatever you thought,

would, in the blink of an eye,

manifest and become illustrated

You'd be sure man that every

line drawn reflected a life that you loved

not an existence that you hated

So, must we demonstrate that

we can't get it straight?

We've painted a picture,

now we're drowning in paint

Lets figure out what the fuck it's about

before the picture we painted

chews us up and spits us out

Redefine

This morning, waiting for the train, feeling the crackle of automn and the smell of coolness that is the changing season I thought, "Wow, fall makes me feel like so i don't know, like different and there;s something about it that just like changes stuff inside." And then I opened my commuting book of the moment (White Noise- Delillo) and read this:

"It was the time of year, the time of day, for a small insistent sadness to pass into the texture of things. Dusk, silence, iron chill. A lonelyness in the bone."

And my soul lept out in recognition of itself.

(PS - LM, if u r at Satoshi tonight, find me, I'll be in black skirt/whit tank, I'd really like to meet u, u seem awasome)
