I've seen him live 3 times and the first time I saw him was a monumental let down . . he was trashed on something, and had done waaaaaay too much to perform . .it was embarrasing, especially for someone of his stature . . I can understand the vice though . .there's too much of it going around in the scene not to be sucked in at least once . .

I can say he does have mad skillz though, the second time I saw him, in Daytona, he was scratching like a madman . . it was a great show. .

He's more of a producer now, with Zone and Tree under his belt. . BabyAnne is his retirement package . . Watching her is better than watching porno . . Girl can dance too . .

That surprises me that he was trashed...I never saw him "lose his shit" while spinning, but I guess we all have our days. He has some amazing producing talent, great scratching skills, but his mixing SUCKS. The last time I saw him spin was in Ft. Lauderdale years ago when he opened for Chemical Bros. He kept train wrecking but the sound was still on - kinda like my experience with BT.

As for BabyAnne, she is AMAZING..props to the femme fatal!! She was roommates with my friend that dated Icey and then next door neighbors with her for a while. What a cool chick! I went into Satellite Records a couple of weeks ago to buy a record and saw this huge poster of her hanging with lights and called my best friend to say "Mary Anne made it to NY!" (I am a dork)!!!!

The only constructive criticism that I can give M A is that she remixes a lot of Icey's work, but she usually picks decent ones.

O town has really influenced my current project. Friends have tought me that it is an untapped goldmine. I certainly agree.

On a side note Dj BMf has influenced hiphop, and other genre's but it is very hard to find O town music in ny.

a1- sorry we dont carry old breaks...

99 john st.......sorry can't help you

Throb union sq...--Dave is nice, but we need some older stuff.

"we don't have anything prior to 97 but we have Icey's newest.

breakbeatscience,,,same thing...

a decent store is on 3rd and 1st but doesnt have much that i like.

O-town should be everyones obsession. Thanks for the lessons

You are not a dork everyone gets excited once in a while especially to talk to thier best friend K who is a sweetheart herself. M A's company paid to put the advertising up though.

Please don't answer my threads. You are not a dj nor is this REALLY your interest so spare me the kissing my ass and seeming interested in stuff that I'm interested in. I don't want to battle with you, just stay the hell away from me.

THank you!

I am not kissing your ass. I stopped doing that 5 months ago. I was being polite. I am interested in this type of music, I am working on a musical project right now even though you think im a lyer. I am a recreational Dj. Looking forward to your next post about music.

LOL That's what I was thinking. When the hell did this guy become a DJ? I've never seen someone work so hard to try and be a part of a scene. Kinda reminds me of this guy in high school that always used to dress thugged out, then when Garth Brooks became huge he showed up to school wearing cowboy boots.

The time signatures of the music has a lot to do with the classification of the electronic genre. Breaks have awkward of beat time sigs like 10/8 11/16 etc. Drum and bass is is built up of tribal repetative sounds but can be off beat like breaks.

Trance has more normal sigs and repeats a high level of trebble making it lighter in sound for more intimate listening.

Progressive seeks new sounds and often mixes two different generes of music, ie latino salsa and electro like deep dish, and or breaks mixed with house

House was a term and a spin off most popular in the 1970's when soul and r and b were getting old. a little more dance flare was put into it.

techno was harder hitting than trance while more commercial than breaks, a harsher more horn driven sound most popular in California.

THis isn't all but an attempt.

pretty much every one of those definitions are wrong. sorry, not trying to sound mean or anything, just wanted to point that out so people aren't misinformed. :)

. . it's not that they're completely wrong . . it's just that they don't completely convey the signature of each sub-genre . .

I think the main points that are wrong are the time sigs, the fact that drum n bass is not made up of tribal repetitive sounds, and I don't believe that techno was most popular in Cali.
