brooklynkid
...or anyone who hangs out here. This also goes for those of you in LIC and Astoria....I'm trying to bring some of the CP vibe to the very fertile (and notoriously ultrahip) area of Williamsburg, more accurately the "Northside" area between Metropolitan Avenue and N 12 St (between the BQE and Kent Ave.), near the conveniently located L train on Bedford Avenue. As you know this area is literally 3 minutes out of Manhattan, and it's overflowing with various types of bars, lounges, and other music venues. In addition there are countless warehouses and other places where events may be held. What we're severely lacking is any type of dance music scene, and by that I mean places of any shape or size where we can hear (and/or dance to) the type of music CPers know and love. There are a few places, such as Luxx on Grand Street and Level X on N 6th Street, but the music selection seems to be spotty and the promotion of these places is unreliable at best.So now I'm on a mission to bring some of the fun to this part of Brooklyn. If you have any ideas or would like to offer assistance in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking possibly start small with open TT nights etc. and then work our way up from there. I've found that if there is a good party, the people of CP will be there. Strength in numbers, ya know? Please contact me if you're interested...Cheers,- mike c aka brooklynkid

brooklynkid
Basically we need to approach the local spots, talk to the owners, hand them a few demos, and promise them we'll be able to fill their places with partying people that will *pay* to drink all night.A few spots I can think of, off the top of my head (granted, it's 8am and i just got home from vinyl so this list may be short):clubs-europa (meserole ave) and exit (greenpoint ave). Don't laugh. These places are PACKED every night they are open and the music SUCKS.Luxx (Grand St) - never been therebars/lounges-BQE (N 6th & Meeker Ave) - new, never been thereN 6 (N 6th betw. Whythe Ave & Kent Ave) - dittoLevel X (N 6th betw. Berry St & Whythe Ave) - nice small space, fantastic sound systemGalapagos (N 6th betw. Whythe Ave & Kent Ave) - huge space, 2 rooms, very popularPete's Candy Store (Lorimer St) - never saw DJs there, but there's a decent space thereplease feel free to add to the list...there's lots of info to be found at http://www.freewilliamsburg.com
