I read an article recently saying that Mitsubishi is bringing the Lancer Evo VII over here to compete with the WRX. Needless to say the WRX will get shit on. Evo VIIs are sick, 300+hp, 0-60 in ~4.7. That has been my dream car since as far back as I can remember. And about the cars for auction. I believe they are legit. I have seen alot of places like that. Especially when I travel. Exotic Car Rentals. This guy probably took a step higher... Put it on Ebay... Called it " His Car " and I am sure there is plenty of paper work to fill out before you drive off the lot. And I am sure the damage deposit is hefty. All in all. For a car like that it is not worth it. For what I would do with it in a week. May as well just tell him " F " The deposit... Keep it.
