T-Shirt Design Contest

Clubplanet is heading down to Winter Music Conference in South Beach

from March 23 - 27, 2002. We are looking for an amazing t-shirt design to

hand out while we are there and we need your help. We're holding a

contest for the best design. There's no real guidelines other than that

it should fit on the front breast pocket and back of a t-shirt and

incorporate the Clubplanet.com name and our tagline "nightlifestyle"

If your design is selected, we will print it on 1000 t-shirts, feature it

on our site with you name and contact information, give you 4 tickets to

Boo 6 with 4 passes to the VIP area and a package of CDs and posters from

the artists and DJs on the lineup.

. . . hmmm. . . . I would suggest creating a form system that talks to a database on the back end, where you have a series of drop down fields that have various selections of criteria that you need to apply to each party.

For each party you have to have certain criteria that will ALWAYS apply, like for instance:

The Venue

The Name of the Party

Time

Date

Dress Code

Scene

Age Requirement

Guestlists

etc . . .

The structure of the database would go as follows (this is a loose framework) . . . Here are the table names :

Venues

Event_Type

Dress_Code

Scene

Age_Requirement

Promotor_guestlists

and. .

Log_parties

Now, here's how to tie it all together:

Logs_parties is the master log file, it updates as you go . . whenever a new party is created the input that you put in will go into this table . . not incidently, this is also the only table that will update after EVERY entry . . whereas the other tables will remain relatively static . . .

The update (the addition of new parties and the like) will be done through one Master Form that will contain entry fields for all the various required information for each party . . .

. . . Now, back to your question lainie . . .how do we cut down on the amount of typing? . . .well simple

On the form mentioned above, you're gonna have a "Venue" field. . . now , Instead of typing in the name of the venue, right next to the field you could put a Button called "Lookup" . . this button would link to the "Venue" table and bring up a list of all the venue's that are in the database . . . Say you wanted Baktun, for instance . . . you'd choose Baktun out of the list and hit ok and it would snap back with all the venue information pulled from the database and inserted neatly into the "Venue" field. . . all ya gotta do is click two times . . . This process can be translated to all 'static' type information in the database . . .

When I say 'static' I mean information that you're not usually going to change very often, like venue names and addresses (although in this city, you never know. . ) . . . Scene types, and dress codes . . .

The beauty in this system is that you only have to enter a certain set of information into the Database ONCE . . at the initial setup of the database, and when you need to add a new record into one of the static type tables (like, say a new club opens up, you'd enter in it's information 1 time, then you could refer to it over and over again without having to type all the info out) . . . then after that you can refer to it through symbolic link. . .

. . the only typing that you're going to have to do every time is the specific notes on the party . . .
