Ultra kicks off it’s hip-hop label

Ultra Records is kicking off it’s new hip-hop label, Sequence Records, with some fresh talent: Check it out; Dan the Automator, Babu of Dilated Peoples, Slum Village, and Nature. Dan the Automator's Wanna Buy a Monkey is set to drop Feb. 19 - the first Sequence release. Next up is Babu The Dilated Junkie presenting Duck Season Vol. 1 (April 30). In the summer, expect Detroit's hip-hop trio Slum Village to drop a DJ mixed CD on Sequence featuring their original productions and guest appearances by a whole gaggle of geese (Dilated Peoples, Quasimoto, Defari and M.O.P). “With the major label cookie-cutter approach to music, it's important that labels like Sequence are around to be a platform for new hip-hop artists," says owner/president Patrick Moxey.
