lumonicat
photo courtesy of Thomas Pentonwhat inspired you to become a dj:An old hip hop dj/friend about 15 years ago! Man where is he now...? How would you describe your dj style: Progressive, but with energy. But NOT like most of this overrated deep non-sense, that usually put the crowd asleep! And I'm actually looking forward to playing more house, groovy vocal stuff. what is the first music you remember hearing as a child: Disco... some events you have dj-ed: All my favorites have to be several years ago, but mostly enjoyed playing at the Edge in Ft.Lauderdale. djs/music artist/groups that are your biggest influence: 2 many, get to this later.... current / upcoming releases:Penton & Duran - Control Factor - Stellar RecordsTad Hutchinson - Syntrifical (Undivided Space remix) - Stellar RecordsPrototype (Thomas Penton rmx) - La Caldera - Tune Inn Records Thomas Penton - Cliffhanger - Tune Inn Records Undivided Space - Recovery - Stellar Records Zenith Nadir (Thomas Penton remix) - I Feel the Music - Crush RecordingsJames Newton (Thomas Penton remix) - Blackbird - Stellar RecordsThomas Penton - Sidewinder - Inversus Records (featured on John 'OO' Fleming's Euphoria cd)Sleepwalker - Face to Face - Inductive/Eve U.K.Thomas Penton - Delta State/Outer Ledge - InductiveRevolver - Absorber - XSF RecordsPowell & Costello (Thomas Penton remix) - Once Apon a Time - Pure MusicSentinel - Avalanche - NEM RecordsThomas Penton - Time Lapse/Lost Soul - Fade RecordsOrca - Orca EP - State of Mind/UCMG describe your music production process:mostly progressive with a twist. darkish but with energy. But would like to start recordings more groovy house/vocal material. label/crew affiliations, web site: Tune Inn Records (U.K.), www.tuneinn.com Stellar Rec,. www.stellardc.com Inversus Rec., www.inversusrecords.comPure Music, www.djhardware.com Inductive Recordings best event you ever attended:Sade concert, better than any club event, EVER! But when it comes to techno possibly Emerald City at the Edge in Ft.Lauderdale, years ago!favorite songs of all time:Jean Michael Jarre cd, Bladerunner soundtrack, Vernons Wonderland (original), any Zepplin tune...etc. where do you hope to be in 5 years:In the islands, running a small bar/club, chillin' in the sun. (my mini ibiza;)how do you think music will change in the next 5 years: hopefully more melodic again electronic, things are too deep right now. Groovy tropical house, maybe...?(it could happen;)how would you assess the dance scene these days:fucked! crowds aren't aware of the music as they use to be it seems. The hype behind it all is stagnating. Radio needs to become a big part of things if it's going to survive, that's the only way to educate listeners and then develop more of a crowd following. Just because it's radio doesn't mean it's has to be commercial, support more styles of dance music and get the public more involved. when not spinning or listening to music, I will be:chillin' in the sun....favorite web site: www.egomedia.com (serious flash programers!!!)
