The Nuclear 7...........

Recommended Posts

looks like Shrub's coke sniffing days are catching up to him. the entire administration reminds me of Dr. MAD from Inspector Gadget, all secretive, sinister and cynical of all motivations. This is rediculous. Nixon wanted to use nukes in V.War until kissinger pleaded with him. we dont need a second nixon. the republicans will pay dearly for this.

Ad hominem attacks may get a chuckle here or there, but won't convince anyone of your point. This has nothing to do with Bush, coke, or Republicans per se.

You think, for example, China doesn't have these plans as well? This is nothing new. China has 70% of its nukes pointed at U.S. cities. Currently they can reach every corner of the United States with their ICBMs. China has developed and continues to develop ASAT technology (antisatellite) technology that would cripple our missle guidance and military navigations systems as well as multiple warhead nukes that would thwart a missile defense shield.

I think the only thing that makes this a "story" is that it was leaked to the media. I don't doubt that some of these other countries, if not all, have developed similar plans. Russia had nukes pointed at us for decades until recently, but those same nukes could easily be retargeted within minutes.

I'm not saying such a plan would be effective--no one could even purport to know if such a plan was effective until the Day arrived, but the point is, nuclear tactical plans are nothing. It'd be kind of silly to have a nuclear weapon or arsenal without well thought out plans on how to use such weapons.

Let's just hope the Day never comes.

ojay, im not talking about the standard ballistic missile threat plans of the cold war era. the article said bush was planning to use small nukes to wipe out regimes in iraq, nkorea etc. that is hardly an old strategy. even a small nuke is disastrous for global environment.
