I just wanted to get the opinion of all you C.P.er's! I just wanted to know whos' been listening to the live broadcast on Sat. from 12-4 with d.j. Stryke, and if you have been listening what is you're opinion on his sets? Would you rather hear new underground music, or the same commercial rotation you hear on the station over and over again! Please give your honest opinion!

Thank You

...somebody brought it up!! That station needs to do some serious changing. The ONLY thing worth listening to on 93.1 is the live broadcasts on friday and saturday. During the week, I can't leave my radio on the station for more than 5 seconds without feeling like I'm trapped in friggin' Malibu Barbie Hell!! Without Stryke's kick ass "edu-tainment", 93.1 has no business being on the air. I thought I would never say these words... but I'd rather listen to power 96. (and that's fucked up!):blown:

The live broadcasts are great but shit man.....how about the regular rotation? get some DJ's in on that shit...mix it up...have some drum and bass, some breakbeats, some progressive, some trance....anything but Hide U 20 times a day you know?

A few months ago, 93.1 asked DJ's to send in their CD's for consideration......what happened?

Wait a minute guyz i think this post needs to be taken a little more seriously... While the station plays commercial crap ALL DAY LONG!!!...

I think this post may be because people have been complaining

about the Broadcast NOT being commercial enough...I really dig Strykes style, and i think he's ahead of the game.... But if we dont speak up ??? We may be listening to Castles in the Sky during that time real soon...

The station needs to realize the Live broadcast is really the only thing they got going ( thats unique)... If they go mainstream all the way ??? They're going to be just as bad as the station they keep bashing!!! I think we should really voice out opinions on this one...

- I hope I'm wrong

- just my $0.02

First of all, let's face it... the station doesn't even have a DJ of their own so listening to DJ Stryke spin live on Saturdays is a treat to the listeners as far as Im concerned. The rotation needs sooooo much work. The songs that are being added to the current program are old. Im sick of hearing a commercial on how they don't play commercials & for the love of God, they need to stop ragging on Power 96. They are two totally different radio stations. It's like comparing apples to oranges! What they need to do is pride themselves on the fact that they play electronic music and try to be the best at that. The current play list is so half ass, just to say it's a "dance" station. This station could have potential, but needs soooo much work - and some DJs for that matter... thank God for live broadcast of DJ Stryke!!!

I couldnt agree more w/bbflux,sexyaileen and meng!!! you guys took the words right out of my keyboard. party 93's biggest problem is they need to stop counting how many commercials power plays and keep record of how many times rapture and silence get played within the hour. I mean cmon, those tracks used to actually mean somthing and give goosebumps, but after being ripped so many times, it just gives me a headache! The broadcast is a good idea, but honestly, how many of us are listening to the radio on the weekend from 12-4??? I think its safe to say most of us are listing to music firsthand in some club...

concentration on break beats and drum & bass would also be beneficial for those genre's of music as well as the station, due to the fact that they are still underground, meaning a rave is the best place the hear broken beats!!!

im out!!!!!!!

beatfriek, bbflux, sexyaileen and meng... I completey agree with the comments about the music... but I think your losing sight of the question in the original post.

If you had to choose... (and the choice IS yours)... which would you rather? Stryke throwin down new music (techno, progressive, house, and electro) or some other dj spinning the same candy-ass music that's in regular rotation?

Lastly... beatfriek, I don't know how you got into electronic music, but for me, it was the underground show on VUM in '93. The time slot was 12am til' about 3am. You gotta see that teen agers are still not able to get into clubs to hear good music. But when they get older, they are going to be the ones who dictate what music is popular. So we need to show them the difference between good music and crap, so that they make a wise decision.

Before pointlesly bashing 93.1 again...

I'd like to share this w/ all of you .

On Saturdays I host a party over @ Living Room downtown.

Music heard through the night can be classified as

"urban-old school-funk-hip hop-R&B" tunes,

w/ [Top Cat/Tony Tone] which play up until 4:30-5:00.

usually everyones :) w/ these party rockers.

Then we have the pleasure of changing it up

Jimmy Toural & Stephan Luke style.

we get plenty of clubbers/groupies from Liquid.

getting to the point...

Throughout the night, I hop in my car to catch Stryke's live set on the radio.

Its the only time 93.1 is ever tuned in my world. Commercial music @ this time has no point in this trendy city/fine establishments/club life & if they do...there just milkin the regular joes. All the other broadcasts compete in the C.B.W. Project. [commercial brain washing] This Liquid broadcast time is "cutting edge".

It would be wonderful if they kept their brilliant repetitive rotation air play &

keep the Saturday live broadcast exactly how it is. Keep it up the Stryke.

I'll be tuning in & out.

check this out

I like It but I hate It. Its good to have a Dance Station but It sux that there cheesy/repetative. BUT Aren't There laws that only allows certain tunes on the radio. COPYRIGHT, You Can't just have a DJ come in and Spin whatever he Wants Can You? As for Stryke, definately cool, even though I dont like his style. 93.1 Also needs to Bring MIA more into the Electronic Music Scene, and also I never Understood Why KTU in NY didn't do it either. They Should Broadcast Sandra from Crobar next week, PVD @ Space, Roger Sanchez @ Opium, just like ID&T Does in Europe.

But thats My View, I will Never Understand How Radio works?????

stryke spinning live is great...repetition of cheesy songs, like hide u, gives me headaches...the station was good idea, but they havent built on it...change the format...get real djs with real shows...the oakenfold show on sunday, which i didnt catch, was a very very good idea...keep doing stuff like that...grab real local djs, at night have shows specializing in certain styles...trance, prog. trance, house, prog. house, tribal house, break beats, jungle, drum n bass, electro, techno, etc....have a variety of diff. styles of music...not just the main stream trance and house movement...explore diff. styles....the station was a good idea...but u have to build on it...right now, it was a good idea..now its just another repetitive station...just my 2 cents

The live sets are kewl. I would definitely consider, moving them to an earlier time slot. Maybe run them from 9:00-1:00am. this way you get people as they are getting ready; or are already on there way to a particular spot. Although I like Stryke; I wouldn’t mind hearing some other local talent. Have Oscar G, Edgar V, Ivanno, DjDekan (shameless plug for my boy!), etc. come in early in the week and record a program. Then broadcast them on Saturday nite. Having it live would be kewl, but that may not be an option as some of these folks have club commitments. As far as the regular format. you guys have a talented program director in Phil Michaels. I’m assuming he is still with you. Why not revamp that format? :)

take it down .. way down to the underground. there's enough crap on the radio .. for 4 hours a week we get some decent music on there. Stryke mixes it a storm wether its techno/tech-house/breakbeat or just plain ol house its a definite change from the watered down poptrance that 93.1 plays weekday in and out. I understand that they can't take risks but atleast keep this live show how its supposed to be underground. You dont go to clubs to hear cheesey played out choons. You go to hear the most upfront and tunes that are moving the dancefloors at the moment. Stryke even plays some classics every once in a while East anyone? Some people get it some people never will. My hope is that we keep this going. Its my home on saturday for heaven's sake please keep it underground. The last thing I wanna hear is Stryke being forced to play 'poptrance' shit like whats on the radio. If anything the station should be asking whats in his box and calling up labels to get radio edits based on crowd reactions. You know a little research goes a long way. 93.1 if you hear me. Please get Way out West - Mindcircus into regular rotation and Starecase - Faith. These songs are amazing vocal breakbeat tunes that are not cheesey and watered down but they do have that catchy hook that people will be singing the next couple of days. Uplifting breakbeat with heavenly voices .. hmm that sounds like something I would like to hear more of.

This rant was brought to you by records like Castles in the Sky, Omnibus and whatever crap is in 93.1 current rotation.

FROM DEEP DOWN IN MIAMI,

Ramon C.

the only positive thing going for that radio station are the live broadcasts from Liquid w/Stryke. They (management) should consider airing the broadcasts, or segments of the broadcsts at different times so the day to day listeners can realize what they have been missing. Anything Stryke plays at any time throughout his set is head and shoulders above anything the station has in constant rotation right now. Not much negative to say about the radio station, but they should capitalize on the talent and take an original approach to playing electronic music on the radio. They need to offer something different and more music like what we hear from Stryke on saturday nights is definitely where to start.

So I just went over to the 93.1 website for shitz and gigglez, and took a look around. First of all, I couldn't find any info about the live broadcasts. NOTHING. So if they're saying the broadcasts aren't being listened to, then maybe they should try promoting it to the best of their ability. Secondly, I cruised by the "Last songs played list"... check it out...

What's the word I'm looking for?? Hmmm.... oh yeah... WEAK!!

No self respecting Dj is going to play this crap. And if you find a loser that will, you better take the money and run, because when the bubblegum music trend dies, you're going with it.

You guys are just as bad as power. You try and appeal to the lowest common denominator of morons and milk it for all it's worth. What are you going to do if your successful enough to have as many advertisers as power? Are you going to start ragging on how they dress?

Bottom line is that good music speaks for itself and playing it is the only thing that will gain the respect of your listeners. Personally, I would sit through 10 minute commercial breaks if I knew that I was going to hear some good music afterwards.

Stryke is your one redeeming quality at the moment. Don't blow it.
