  5. Recently the largest daily newspaper in Sweden, Dagens Nyheter, invented the phrase "Dana House". The expression applies to the seamless blend of the different styles Dana plays. During his dj-sets musical elementrange from Rimini flavoured italo, funk and glimmering 80s to jerky electro, polished techno and ultrafresh disco. Everything closely connected with house - the genre where his musical roots belongs to. Dana Bergquist is undoubtedly one of Swedens most diligent and reliable dj's. Playing alongside people like Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Sander Kleinenberg, Roger Sanchez, DJ Hell and Tiga he can be seen every weekend dj'ing at one of Stockholms best clubs. The past three years Dana also has been holding a residency at the now defunked world famous and renowned Grodan Cocktail Club and this fall will see the launch of his own montly night, Oh!, at the stockholm venue Teatron. There he will fly in his own favourite dj's from around the globe. First up looks to be Smokin' Jo Furthermore, Dana has at repeatedly occasions been given the honourable task to represent Sweden when superclubs like Renaissance, Ministry of Sound and Cream visits Sweden. And finally, the production of hot tracks has really started to kick off. The music production is something that Dana has been doing more like a spare time thing. But now labels and people are starting to pick up his music. This spring his first release, McEnroe, was out on Desyn Masiellos fantastic label Symphonic Vibes and featured on John Digweeds latest mix, Transitions, for Renaissance. It's been supported by John Digweed (of course), Francois K, Laurent Garnier, Dave Seaman, Sharam & Ali (Deepdish), Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Desyn Masiello, Danny Howells, Luke Fair, Demi (Deeper Substance) and many many more. With several original tracks waiting in the pipeline and a bunch of own upcoming remixes Dana Bergquist is definitely a name heading for the international scene. Make sure to experience the soul of Dana House before everyone else does it. http://www.electronicgroove.com/

  18. Twenty one year old Tom Morgan has been immersed in music ever since he can remember. From an early age he was influenced by a broad spectrum of music, which would help to form the forward-thinking, diverse sound he employs now. After buying his first set of decks as the age of fourteen, he surrounded himself completely with dance music, taking the inevitable step from clubbing to DJing and onwards. Being a part of the scene from such an early age allows him to DJ from a clubber's perspective, forming sets dedicated to his particular audience and granting him the knowledge of exactly what a crowd is looking for. His influences traverse the length of house music, from Danny Howells and Ralph Lawson to Francois Kevorkian and Danny Tenaglia. Playing a funk fuelled mix of disco, deep, tech and progressive house, he is as happy warming up as banging it out towards the end of the night. He constantly strives to give his sets a personal touch; editing tracks so they sound exactly as he wants them to and using acappellas to make his music stand out. Tom's talent has not gone unnoticed, earning praise from some of the industry's biggest names. Desyn Masiello tipped him as 'a DJ who'll break through in 2006' in a DJ Mag poll. His ear for a tune was recognised further as Desyn employed him in an A&R capacity for his prestigious Alternative Route label. The job entails using his network of contacts to unearth the best house music around, giving him access to a huge number of tracks and ensuring that practically his every waking minute is spent listening to music. Following on from this, 2006 saw Tom play all over the globe; in a host of South American countries (Mexico, Argentina and Brazil) as well as all over Europe (Bulgaria, Norway, Italy, Scotland and England), both headlining and sharing the booth with DJs like Nick Warren, Jimmy Van M, Omid 16B, Jody Wisternoff, Spirit Catcher, Ricky Ryan, Hernan Cerbello, balErik, Nick DK and Gabriel Sordo. As well as this, he spent some time in the studio, collaborating on tracks with Somnus Corp and Phunktastike. 2007 sees the launch of his digital label, Discoteca Music, alongside Dana Bergquist, Erik Molthe and Somnus Corp. It's focus is on delivering high quality music aimed at the dancefloor, while giving talented up-and-coming producers a platform to showcase their sound. http://www.electronicgroove.com/
  19. This week's RA podcast is a rare and exclusive DJ set from electronic gents Underworld. Rick Smith and Karl Hyde are at the top of the electronic dance pyramid with five studio albums, scores of world tours and almost thirty years of production experience under their belt. Underworld are especially loved for their live shows, which combine Hyde's theatrics, Smith's bank of electronics and some of the most eye-popping visuals around. Recently, they've been branching out into unknown territory, scoring Hollywood movies and taking back control of their music via their Underworldlive record label and website, where fans keep up to date with the band via Underworld radio shows, videos and web rantings. In fact 2007 has been a big year for the band - last month they released their first studio album in five years, Oblivion With Bells in between a string of gigs around the globe, interrupted only, it seems, for health reasons. The tour just resumed this weekend in Tokyo after Smith saw off a bout of bad pneumonia. Welcome back to the frontlines, Mr. Smith. Underworld are a resolutely live act so their exclusive Misteron DJ mix for the RA Podcast is an extra special treat. Check out Smith & Hyde behind the decks on this sixty-five minutes of top quality Underworld tracks and selections from the best in house and techno. Answers from Romford: What have you been working on recently? Recovering from extreme ill-health. Then putting out another live web radio broadcast from a secret nuclear envelope in Essex. Where was the mix recorded? At Lemonworld Studios, in a pigshed near Romford. What are you up to next? Touring Japan. Curating the first of the 'Oblivion Ball' gatherings at an all-nighter outside Tokyo with Underworld & guests Andrew Weatherall, Simian Mobile Disco, 120Days and The Orb. Also staging a major art performance event in Tokyo with our art-jamming partners Tomato & all night cinema showing some of the films Underworld has scored or provided music for.
