  1. tell that to a country fan...or a rock fan when they listen to electronic music... its all about how you percieve the music......which is all in your mind. the body follows the mind.
  2. the style of music they championed on saturday is on a mental level. It leaves so much room to do different stuff with it to make people move....it just didnt happen saturday
  3. why bad? .....8 minutes between mixes... .....no progression from track to track, and if there was it didnt last for more then 2 records...... .....many of the tracks they played just got lost on the system, the intricate details in the tracks dissappeared (only beauty of minimal tech house)....... .....maybe 30 people dancing between 3 and 5...... ...no alcohol but security was drinking beer....... ....4$ coat check... ....crowd that just waited for the break in order to show enthusiasm.... arc that night was probably the only place in manhattan to hear the tracks i heard on a large system.....pity it was all put together with the mindset of a house/progressive dj... "wait for break....fade in...fade out..." innovate dont imitate. oh and p.s. thanks for letting fans of dandy jack know at the door that he wasnt playing. thanks for the effort.
  4. i dont know how to convey that it is "my bag" without sounding like i have an ego.... i knew many of the tracks played that night. but it was nothing more then tracks. if anything from a dj perspective...its an eays mixing night. -z
  5. what was solid about it??? every record was drawn out till the end...and with the minimal stuff...thats a long time.... the music itself is nothing new to me...so i need to hear more then just "different" records played one after the other. thats what it was to me...people playing different records then most others....but is that enough? the only people i saw focused and having a good time...were the people glued to speakers with drool down thier chins..grinding teeth like it was bubble gum.
  6. not really...not at 5 am at least -z
  7. thing is.... the experimental stuff is my cup of tea....and i have rocked out enough to it...but there was no feeling to it saturday night. -z
  8. Did anyone else go? I need another perspective? i think it was the worst club experience i ever had.
  9. pissed of community board...what else is new.
  10. my girlie techno comment was not directed at the dj...barbera can play as hard as anyone. Marusha...well....she plays girlie ravey techno. . Techno and Acid house is what made NYC what it was in the second generation of clubbing...which is what most of us rememeber. the early house scene (i consider the first generation) is what made NYC legendary. Unfortunately we don't have either any more. There's a fine line between intelligent electronic music and mindless drug music. The fact that there is no ego that can define or accept this task creates a huge divide in answering "what is techno". Bottom line...listen to what you like and enjoy it. -z
  11. laurent garnier... if you havent seen him.....make an effort to go......it will change all your minds.
  12. hope whoever made those gets sued. -z
  13. trance is huge in europe.....so is techno..... listening to online radio is as useless as listening to nyc radio stations... i have been to holland a few times...have friends there... when his poster is up in all virgin type shops..i consider that pretty mainstream. calling tiesto underground is an insult to the sewer system. besides...he plays nowhere near the trippy shit he used to play...the man is marketing himself...not the music.
  14. what atmosphere??? bunch of k'd out little kids blocking the front of the djbooth hoping to catch tiesto's sweat.... yeah great vibe....themusic is the same five tones with different beats..and some synth chords.. baaa..baaa.....
  15. it will probably suffer the same fate as exit when it first opened.
  16. tiesto being artsy is a funny comment... he is the louie devito of holland..
  17. legend of 1900 is more recent from the same director.. pretty good as well....
  18. ready to hear the same 5 songs...and a dreamy vocal...woohoo.
  19. billboard telling you what the top electronic album is like mcdonalds telling you they have the best burger. dont listen to hype..
