  1. It was off Old Brompton Road, it's been closed for a number of years and a pub is in there now. Does anyone know why it closed and what clubs the members gravitated to after The Bank closed? Did any club take The Bank's unexpired memberships?
  2. Who's been to Vision on Saturdays, music, crowds, prices, thanks.
  3. I got an email saying the Velvet Room New Year's Eve party in Atlanta was being moved to Vision Nightclub (which is across the street.) Anyone know the scoop as to why the party was moved? Thanks!!
  4. In fact, I did end up going to 1150----I have a membership there and ALWAYS have had a great time. BTW, what happened to the tall bald-headed doorman that used to work there? I haven't seen him in gosh-knows-when......he really kept things in order outside!
  5. I went to the DJ Skribble show at Velvet Room last week. I paid for VIP admission which guarenteed access to the VIP areas of the club. The club did NOT honor the VIP admission (general admission was $15 in advance, $20 at the door (if available), and VIP was $30, which included access to the VIP areas of the club and 2 free drinks. All I got was the two free drinks and that was it. What is really strange is that I am a regular in the club and have sat in VIP many times before. I feel the club should have honored what was advertised in the email flyer we got. Has this happened to you? I ended up staying for about 15 minutes of Skribble's show and went to another more accomodating club. What would you have done? Asked for a refund or for the manager? Any comments welcome.
  6. I was in Blackpool this summer and if you want to make the one hour trip from Manchester, The Syndicate I have heard is great. They also have a tie-in with Bar Red with them being "the official pre-bar to the Syndicate SuperClub" with running drink promotions and specials usually from around 6-8PM.
  7. I've heard Bleu Room in DT Detroit is off the hook!
  8. I looked at Buckhead.org---a lot of the info on there is out of date.
  9. Lava Lounge is great---especially their upstairs VIP area. I was in eleven50 last night and the outdoor patio area is closed for the winter. My only complaint is that eleven50 on the weekends doesn't have enough people in there to open up the upstairs balconly and VIP area.
  10. Club regulars, a question for ya? If you are a regular at a place, does your club VIP room *require* purchase of bottle service? I am here in Atlanta and frequent several clubs (and hold VIP membership to one of them.) One club I hold a free VIP card to, and both places have *never* required bottle service or minimum purchase. One club here requires $100 minimum chapagne purchase (Moet being the cheapeast.) I've been in VIP rooms in clubs all over the world and have never been asked to purchase a minimum or champagne (usually overpriced anyway.) Funny thing is I usually spend between $80-$100 a night out (including cab fare home) usually mixed drinks (cosmopolitans, for example) or import beer.) Can someone tell me if this is a trend clubs are going to or the exception? Many thanks!!!!
  11. I am getting different answers from different people....no one seems to know for sure. Thanks for any info!!
  12. Need to be a club member, on guestlist or based on how you are dressed? More clubs here (in Atlanta) seem to have varying policies...nothing consistent. Was wondering if it is the same way up in NYC.
  13. Door people here in Atlanta are getting stricter, a lot of people DON"T want to dress up anymore!
  14. Thanks for all the GREAT responses everyone!! BTW: What ever happened to: Julie Jewels Rob Rivera (he and I exchanged a few emails, I inquired if Junior ever was going to spin in Atlanta)
  15. Who from Club Planet is going to be at Velvet Room in Atlanta for the Love America Dave Phillips/Anothony Nero shootout this Friday night? Would LOVE to meet some of you!! A friend of mine that used to run Plush in Buckhead runs this club---you will get taken care of and treated RIGHT there. See you Friday!!!
  16. Going to see Timo Maas spin at 1150 (here in Atlanta) tonight. It's the 1st time I've seen him---what to expect in terms of style, beats, etc. Many thanks!!
  17. I read in the papers all the "drama" surrounding Liquid (when Niki Taylor had her accident here in Atlanta)it was mentioned that she was friends with Chris. I remember reading that he was in the fed's lodgings up in NY but I thought Ingrid was able to keep Liquid, especially since she tried to open up shop in NYC. There were rumors that a Liquid was going to open up here in Atlanta but the club that *was* named "Liquid" (which changed it's name to Liquid Assets so as to not to confuse people that it was affiliated with the Miami Liquid) had no affiliation with Ingrid. What a bummmer---I love the club scene here in Atlanta and Ingrid would be more than welcome here. I haven't been in Miami in a while and hope to make it to Liquid sometime. Best of luck to Ingrid!!
  18. Velvet Room in Midtown Atlanta: great club, the guy who runs it used to run Plush Lounge in Buckhead. Karma: Downtown Atlanta: hot and hip 1150: Midtown Atlanta, down the street from Velvet Room. Probably THE club in Atlanta (depending on whom you talk to). Gained fame as the place Niki Taylor was partying at before her accident. Hope this helps!!
  19. Famous NYC door person of the 1980's....anyone know?
  20. He has done NOTHING for the club industry up there in NYC---I am STILL spitting mad down here in Atlanta. He is being painted as a damm saint because of 9-11. Excuse my ranting....I have friends that work in the club industry here in Atlanta and we just defeated a City Council proposal (and Rudy-like manyoral candidate) that wanted to close bars and clubs down here at 2AM.
  21. Moscow clubs can be SO fickle--here one minute, gone the next.....I have been going to Moscow for almost 13 years, so I have seen the scene from the beginning. One thing to remember: most high-stle clubs (unfortunately) have a high "flathead" factor (if you have to ask what a flathead is, you don't belong in Moscow---period) plus a high number of "working girls" (not the Melanie Griffith kind!!). BUT, if you don't bother them, they don't bother you. Flatheads can be recognised by the "uniform": black leather jacket down to the hips and dark pants. Someone mentioned Club XII--good, from what I hear. 4 Rooms (depending on whom you talk to) either is in or out, no one really knows their status (this is the club where Christy Turlington scrawled her name on the wall). I hear Manhattan (formerly Manhattan Express) is making a comeback----the owners have completely redone the inside, remodeled the restaurant (which had a very good menu last time I was there) and re-did the interior of the club. Manhattan is located on the corner of the Rossiya Hotel, right off Red Square. Moscow is definitely a clubbing city----if you love the "velvet rope" scene as much as I do, you will be welcome. Happy clubbing!!!
  22. Does anyone know if "The Bank" (near Old Brompton Road) is still open? Thanks!!
