  3. My girlfriend and I are heading up to Montreal for this Friday and Saturday nights (July 2nd & 3rd). Does anyone have any recommendations for clubs and/or lounges? Better yet, we would love hookups for guestlists or comps. I have a hookup for Stereo afterhours, but working on other venues now. ANY assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Joe
  4. What are the TOP 15 VENUES in New York??? Starting with the Biggest Clubs and working to the Lounges? I haven't had all of the time that I have wanted lately to make it out and have "those nights", but It's time I head out and see what NYC is all about right now. I need your help... -Joe

  12. Hey guys and girls. I just got a call from a friend I do some work with here in NY, and they need 2 DJs for an event going on in DC THIS SATURDAY. It's an easy gig on or near Howard University Campus. It's one event, 2 DJs in different spots. 1 DJ to spin inside from 6-11 pm and 1 DJ to spin outside from 6-8pm You will need to have your own setup of equipment for outside (including speakers and sound and all) and just your basic DJ rig for inside (turntables, mixer, CD deck) to hook into house system. There is a decent budget. CALL ME ASAP. Like I said, it's on THIS Saturday, September 25th 2003. -Joe 201-681-6833 cell
  13. What's up DJs and music people? I wanted to see if anyone out there wanted to swap or trade white label tracks on CD? I have a bunch of stuff and always looking to get more of those hard to find, limited print tracks. I know most of that stuff is on vinyl, but I have converted most to CD nowadays and want to get more stuff... Barry White, Michael Jackson, Radiohead, Steve Miller Band, etc... Rock, R&B, classics, etc. with hous-ey mixes... Lemme know... u_spin@hotmail.com Later all.
  14. I haven't been on the board in a while, and while I do like the Thursday party at Centro-Fly nowadays, the old Subliminal Sessions party was definately the best party in NY. It lost its charm when it moved to a terrible room that merely has a good nostalgic name. Anyone remember the good old days of Eric Morillo with guest spots by Armand, Roger, Dimitri, etc.? 'We gotta bring that feeling back...'
  15. What's up all? Listen, I know it's a couple months away, but if you want a free trip - all you have to do is get 15 people to go. I can set you up with a legit company...that I have travelled with for years and worked for on location in Cancun last year. Email me with your phone number and contact info and I'll give you a ring to go over details...(u_spin@hotmail.com) OR Just email me and I can get you info to travel down there with your friends...(u_spin@hotmail.com) BEST TIME & PLACE TO PARTY...BELIEVE ME. THERE'S GOING TO BE SOME SICK PARTIES THIS YEAR TOO... -Joe u_spin@hotmail.com
  16. oakenfold was a disappiontment...i was excited to check his set out, but was dienchanted...nothin goin on. oh well. we left to check out outkast and moby...both ridiculous...and i too didn't have to get all f-ed up...believe it or not.
  17. Art - I just want to say that's cool shit. It's hard to find a lot of that stuff and cracked already. I'll probably drop you a line about some stuff...I have a bunch of stuff too - half of which I have never even used. Some guy from UK hooked me up with CD with all types of programs. Let me know what you're lookin for.
  18. Who is this USPIN dude anyway? and why is he so bitter? Kidding. I really don't care. I personally love a lot of old stuff, and feel the same way...that some older anthems are great to bang in a set to get people excited - and grab those people that need to recognize a track to be happy. In no way was I trying to sound angry or anything. I've just heard people say some stupid things and criticize people - and it sounds like people are criticizing others for asking questions about old songs. No big deal. Actually as a DJ, sometimes it takes a friend saying that shit, to motivate you to get off your ass and grab some new music...which I appreciate. I'll tell ya though - there is so much damn good music it's hard to keep up with...especially when you spin one style, but love another, and want to spin another also...blah blah. I need to hit the lotto! Thanks for the input ya'll...
  19. I'm just curious...in this world of music, specifically house music, why do people always try and say 'that track is old' as a putdown. The simple fact is that if a track is hot, the shit is hot, and whether you had had it for days, months or years, age doesn't degrade the quality of a song. Let people enjoy their music, regardless of its age or how long 'you've had it'. No I know that you don't want to hear a track that is totally played out...but that's what radio does. I hit clubs as much and more than the next guy, and unless you are in a toursist-y club like in Cancun or some shit, you are gonna hear new shit and older shit...but 99.9% really isn't played out if it is true club music. All I ask, is that people relax, hang out, and experience music for everything it can be. Thanks ya'll...
  20. Listen, I know all of you don't get advanced copies of everything, and many of you are pissed about napster being more trouble than it's worth nowadays... I recommend jumping on www.homeofmusic.com and grabbing some good tracks. I like the MAW page with just some good funky shit...not to mention how every track is described and evaluated. Just my 2 cents...peace
  21. I walked into Exit 2 weeks ago around 2 and he was playing the Bongo Song by Safri Duo. It has a bongo/conga beginning with stabs throughout and a bongo breakdown...dope track but already making it to KTU...
  22. So this Saturday, I want to take my cousin (20 yo) out to a good NY club and party a bit. He's done the Exit, Tunnel, Webster Hall, Palladium thing... My question is whether there are any 18+ parties on Saturdays. Anything at all... Help us out...big or small venue...club or lounge...just let me know. THANKS IN ADVANCE. -J
  23. To me, there's nothing better than spinning good house music for people who totally feeling the music, (some yelling, raising arms, etc)and then jumping out of the booth and dancing with along with them....because they are feeling the vibe like I am... But that's just a benefit of being a DJ...but I hear you...
  24. Okay, I've been a bunch of times, and although I always recommend it for a night out to those who aren't looking to get totally cracked out and party with minors... I mean I like the place, the music, and the crowd is cool...but every time Sunday "rolls" around, I say "it was a good night"...but no stories, events, etc...So I've come to the conclusion that World has it goin on, but needs to liven up a little... I know this one girl (who's pretty cool) that goes there a lot...and swears by the place...(of course never waiting in the damn line in the cold.) What do you guys think? Anybody on this board go anywhere besides Factory or Twilo? Let me know...
